Despite what I heard was "supposed" to happen, I actually didn't feel
much during the four attunements...just a very deep state or
relaxation...My Reiki Master didn't tell me a single word about what
*he* felt...
During the first month I experienced sudden waves of warmth...expecially
to my hands and face...emotional issues like sudden bursts of
tears...with no specific reason...emotional over reactions to the
slightest things...
All these "simptoms" were reduced after I started giving myself Reiki,
even for a few minutes, in the morning as soon as I felt awake, and in
the evening in bed, before falling asleep...
Don't know if that makes much sense or has any meaning to you
all...since I was facing a bad time in my life anyway...
Looking back I think Reiki attunement heigthened or made more evident
some mental/emotional issues I was facing anyway...
It's been 3 months since my attunement now (1° november 2004)...guess I
can say I feel much calmer...and more prone to joy rather than
depression and hanger...I don't know how much of this I owe to
meditation and how much to Reiki...I've been receiving a healing session
every week since then, during the "exchanges" the group I attend
organizes...Plus two individual sessions of Celestial Reiki with my
R.M...who of course didn't tell me anything about any of them...saying
only that when the time is right for me, I'll see some of my issues more
clearly by myself...

Sounds like the sort of thing that does happen.
For me, it was a bit different. I had been doing yoga meditation for
along time and also working with several self-work (personal work,
emotional clearing) techniques. And the only thing I noticed at the
time of my personal attunement, besides a deep sense of inner quiet and
centeredness, was that I seemed to unload a lot of old emotional stuff
-- just automatically, cleanly, and without any emotional pain or any
fanfare. I was very happy and very impressed.
I had no noticeable immediate cleansing reactions, physically or
emotionally, but I did drink the extra water. It was probably a month
or few months later that I had some occasional physical reactions --
like a sudden mid-day need to sleep for an hour or two (irresistable) --
or an occasional two or three days of pain in some internal organ or
area closer to the surface of my body. Oh yeah, and my body frequently
heats up during sleep at night. My feet heat up, which is interesting
because I used to frequently have cold feet during the night. And for a
while I was getting a redness like bad sunburn on part of my face or
neck as a reaction to self-healing hand placement; it would last two or
three days.
Now it's four years later, and every now and again I get another urge to
take a long nap -- I'll feel very sleepy, and sometimes that's
accompanied by a headache. I still sleep very warm. I've come across
some descriptions of this on sites dealing with "tummo reiki" but I
myself was never attuned specifically to that branch of Reiki.
All sorts of things happen.
