Aldi have got back to me regarding my complaint that the price of Ramiro
sweet pointed peppers (2) increased from 89p to 1.59 overnight.
This is their reply,
"Aldi UK Hi Xxxxxxx, our buyers have come back to us to say that the price
fluctuation is due to the changing of their country of origin, seasonality
and weather conditions around the world. Hope this helps."

Thank you Aldi for getting back to me as promised but *no* it doesn't help
:-( I think it's a load of rubbish and just an excuse.

I agree with your remarks, we are at their mercy as far as prices are
concerned. These huge fluctuations in price tend to hide the real
increases. It's almost impossible to shop for bargains alone, but we now
tend to stockpile the products whose prices are currently below what they
should be. You can't do it with everything of course, milk for example
which has been 1 for 4 pints for a long time now.

Indeed, the peppers are a prime example of perishables you can't stockpile
plus the increase was overnight without warning :-(
