I used to work as an electronics R&D tech from 1969 to about 1993 and have
had an amateur advanced license since the late 60's too, though I've been
off the air for many years now ( late 80's ).

So what's new in transceiver technology and pricing?
For example, have they got some cool compact rigs out there, that are
sensitive and can receive from VLF all the way up into the multi GHz
regions, and transmit on every ham band in that range?
What would they COST though?
