Need someone to expewriment with voip with

I'm thinking of subscribing to one of those VOIP services, but the last time
I tried using voip it was a disaster. However, at the time I had a slow
dialup connection, and my CPU was only running at a couple hundred mhz. Now
I have a fast cable connection and a 2.4Ghz cpu with 256Mb ram. I think
this fast of a setup just might be capable of running voip with enough zip
to make a go of it as a replacement for a regular telephone.

Is there someone else who wants to experiment with this? We would put
voip-ware on our systems and try connecting to each other and see how good a
connection we can get --- how much lag time, intelligibility, how robust it
is, etc. It'd probably be best if you lived near the Pacific side of North
America, and had a similarly fast system and a cable connection, but none of
that is absolutely necessary.
