/me needs a place to write stuff out sometimes, and paper isn't always
big enough to fit everything so I can see it. Home office lacked a
white board. Bought a decent sized white board (finally) for about $20
at a local Target (pens + eraser extra) but they didn't have an easel to
mount it on. Lacking wall space appropriate for a white board (and time
to shop for easels) I cut a metal clothes hangar in half (after
straightening), then bent it over and formed hooks that mount over the
top of a door to the office area. The board now hangs at a nice easy to
use level on a previously unusable surface. Putting a doorstop (that I
already had) BEHIND the door (from where I'm writing) keeps the door
from swinging away from me. If I ever need to close the door I can
always unhook the board, so it's a nice solution until I bother getting
something better to hang it on (if ever).
NOTE: I did something similar in a cubicle once, but used 2 chunks of
12 gauge solid copper electrical wire for that one.
OK clothes hanger hacks are like duck tape hacks, but still worthy of
mention 'cause I bet at least one other person will read this and do
something similar. And I thought of using bailing wire but it's not
stiff enough.
metal clothes hangers are becoming more rare, too, so hang onto the ones
you've got for potential future hacks. Or can I buy a bunch of that
material somewhere? If it's pre-cut into 'clothes-hanger' lengths I
dont' mind. I'm used to that anyway.
