This is a web developer position (strong on the back end) with
person would be a good designer and strong technically. There are two
positions and will take one resource that a strong designer and if the
other resource is strong technically. Otherwise, both need to be good
designer and strong technically. The resources need to supply sample
sites that they design and coded. The sites should not say done with
errors unless they were changed by someone else after the resource
performed the design and code. The resource will also need to
estimate time for projects and push back on the business areas.
Resources will corporate web experience is better than free lance
experience. The resource needs to be able to explain what they have
done on each site they have worked on. The interview will be one hour
of questions and one hour of skill assessment, which is sitting in
front of a computer and go through an example to reproduce a web
Under minimum guidance, designs, develops and maintains the BCBSM
intranet and internet websites. Responsible for the analysis, design,
testing and implementation of web solutions. Ensures designs comply
with organizational standards. Serves as consultant for department on
web projects and mentors web designers and non-technical team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides technical leadership and mentors web designers on
technical issues and best practices.
Develops and maintains the BCBSM intranet and internet
websites. Designs front-end web solutions and performs analysis,
design, testing and implementation. Monitors competitive landscape to
find best practices and strategies to provide new design
Demonstrated capabilities in the following languages: HTML,
Demonstrated capabilities using the Adobe Web Premium CS3
tools, including: Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Fireworks.
Mentors and leads front and back end troubleshooting
activities including programming support in server side languages such
as JSP and PHP.
Maintains and enhances database, portal applications, CMS
publishing tools and other web development tools in conjunction with
IT and other teams.
Leads research activities to implement new technologies and
provide ideas for technical or business improvements. Monitors and
delivers key performance indicator reports of site and campaign
activity to drive the ongoing development and optimization of
compelling web content in order to increase traffic and time on site,
drive product sales and increase registrant opt-ins for loyalty and
Participate in quality assurance testing and monitoring
automated tools to improve and maintain quality standards.
Documents business requirements, develops prototypes and
formulates test plans.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in related field required.
Three (3) to five (5) years of interactive design and
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrated ability with a variety of web programming
languages and related software tools.
Working knowledge of online marketing tactics, industry trends
and user behavior including search, email and social networking
platforms. Working knowledge of user experience and content process
Experience with user interface visualizations and
visualization tools, such as iRise, preferred
Demonstrated ability to develop websites that work across
multiple browsers and platforms.
Ability to lead and contribute to process improvement projects
involving online applications and tasks.
Experience with mentoring web designers and non-technical team
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to
perform this job.
May be required to work after normal business hours including
weekends to support press release distribution, resolve website issues
or support IT maintenance activities.
