I suggested to State Senator, Liz Brater (Ann Arbor), that the law
should be changed to require such a loss or theft be reported
IMMEDIATELY upon discovery. This is the case in a few states,
including Massachusetts.
The immediate reporting of a lost or stolen handgun gives the police a
better chance of solving the theft and getting the gun out of the
hands of a criminal.
Liz Brater refuses to consider or reply to my suggestion.
If you think the Michigan handgun theft reporting law should be
strengthened, you can contact Sen. Brater here:

p.s. whatever state you reside- YOUR handgun reporting law probably
needs strengthening also.
As a general rule, politicians give little or no credence to email
communications from constituents. It is highly likely that she never
even personally read your email.
For a somewhat better chance of communicating with her, send a
concise, polite, *written* message via snail-mail.

Not true.
With increased security concerns, mail is now subject to substantial
delays and most members of congress really prefer email.

Her email form says that SHE READS THEM. I'll take her word for it,
rather than your suggestion.
GOOD observation Hyman! This is the FIRST time you replied to anyone
with one whole sentence, rather than the word "idiot" !!
