Upside Gibson V

Flying V's with the neck on the wrong end. Not only did it look
hideous and stupid, it was one of the most uncomfortable guitar's I
ever played. But I will say if I had unlimited funds I would but up
some of these ridiculous new Gibson monsters for wall art. I doubt
they will make many of them so they will be of extra value some day.
It was funny, it was flanked on the wall by two regular V's so they
formed a strange star shape.

That's probably what they're counting on - collectors who will buy
anything if it's rare.

Those are actually an old design... I think Rick Neilson played one
once.... Honestly, I'd buy it... I like cool-shaped guitars...but, not
at Gibson prices.

I believe this design actually came about from an "air guitar"
cardboard cutout in a Judas Priest video...don't remember offhand, but
probably Living After Midnight...I distinctly remember the shape of
one of the cutouts.

It isn't just Gibson that does it. Martin, for example has dozens of limited
edition models - CFM IV was trained in business, not musical instrument
manufacture. I think it is a simple business strategy. Japanese
manufacturers of consumer goods have known for years that the more models
you have, the more you will sell - at least in Japan. Come to that a lot of
this weird Gibson stuff might be aimed at the Japanese market. I have been
told buy the proprietor of Tym Guitars that Japan is a bigger market than
the US for Gibson.

Everytime I see one I think of game we played when I was young (
mid/late 60's) called Jarts ( sometime Lawn Jarts) Sort of like darts
crossed with horse shoes played outside. If you ever played it you
know what I am talking about. Just my 2 cents

for the recognized brand name.

I have a set of the original Jarts ( from french "jardine darts" ) at
the cottage. A lot of people are actually afraid of them.
BTW, my new years' resolution was to make time for the trilogy. Got
'er done just now!!

I can still feel the bile rise when I think of that dirtbag, Tiesco
Del Ray (scum de plume), and his lame drivel in Guitar Magazine, no
less GM running such a crap column. That dolt, single handedly,
elevated crap axes to blindly insane collector status cuz readers
actually believed cheap pieces of junk deserved respect. Sorry! Junk
is junk, no matter what some self-made messiah claims.
The problem is, guitar players are stupid! Plain and simple. I was
at a guitar sale at a little place way up in the remote Rocky
Mountains of CO. A hundred ppl at most, maybe a doz sellers. Most
were selling Fenders. The avg mediocre strat was going for
$2500-3000!! There is no logical reason for this. It's jes a
freaking piece of wood, you dolts!! I sold my strat and kept my Aria
cuz my Aria is a better instrument than the '79 strat I sold. Yet, I
hadda repel strat freaks practically at gunpoint to sell that corpse
of a git.
Sorry, but I have no love for collectors. Play it or sell it to
someone who will. A guitar not played is a crime against music.

No - you play it right...You were supposed to have 2 rings and the
darts. Everyone stood at one end and tried to get the darts into the
ring. Basically, the game of horseshoes...You wouldn't stand next to
the stake in a horseshoe game, would you? It's stupid people that got
the game banned and taken off the market. Luckily, I still have a old
1970's set. :)

Gibson has owned Epiphone since 1958. Buying up their competetion &
turning them into little sub brands of themselves has been their
business model since the mid 50s & now Fender is jumping on that
bandwagon. Guild, DeArmond, Gretsch, Takamine & more - all owned by
FMI. Their 'Squier' brand was created in house which kind of makes it
