I had some problems finding this info, so I thought I'd pass it along and
maybe save someone else some time.

In the US, the G8 concerts will be broadcast on MTV and VH1, Saturday at
noon Eastern time, 11 a.m. Central time.

ABC will broadcast a "best of" 2-hour block starting Saturday at 8 p.m.
Eastern, 7 p.m. Central.

AOL has a variety of stuff planned, from live viewing to "best of",
contests, etc. Just go to AOL.com and follow the promos.

I haven't seen the Friday newspapers or the Friday edition of USA Today, but
I would think that they would offer up a more complete schedule.

Thanks for the info Dow. I hope they show the London concert a lot since
it's seems to have the best acts (IMHO).

UPDATE:

I forgot to mention that the MTV/VH1 coverage will run from noon to 8 pm,
with ABC picking up a "best of" show from 8 pm to 10 pm. All times are
Eastern (US).

There are going to be about 6 or more internet projects, some video, some
audio, and some both. If you can stream audio or video on your cell phone,
it will be there for you, too.

Some good sources to use for searching for info are vh1.com, aolmusic.com,
USA Today (weekend edition) and the Live 8 site.

This is an interesting concept.....9 concerts, world-wide, on the same day.
I was around for Live Aid in 1985 (heck, I'm so old, I was around before the
invention of the Stratocaster) and it was great. [Man, in 1985, Joss Stone
had not even been born yet....yikes.]

I'm posting the info, as things are changing rapidly. For example, Sheryl
Crow has dropped out because she can't get all of her tour gear there on
time.

Meanwhile, the European shows will have some artists that have not appeared
on American screens in some time, like Nena, A-Ha, Roxy Music and many more.
Some people forget that some groups who were just a "flash in the pan" in
the US, are **huge** in Europe.

I like the London show, which begins at 3 a.m. Saturday morning here
(Eastern U.S.). It will feature U2, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, and
a re-united Pink Floyd, and about 20 more groups.

In all, there are probably a lot of bands that you'd like to see, in all
genres, with a total of about 90 signed up to play at 9 concerts on one day.
Not a bad way to spend a hot Saturday afternoon.

I'm in Texas, but of all the concerts, the one in Barrie, Ontario sounds
great: Neil Young, Deep Purple, Jet, Bachman Cummings, and even Gordon
Lightfoot...all kicked off by Celine Dion (whoa, this could be a celebrity
ego deathmatch). Plus, there will probably be some surprises and even some
extra, newer, more regional groups.

Good news for those interested: All of the nine concerts will be recorded
on video and will be made available for the next 6 weeks via the internet.
Hopefully, this will give us all an opportunity to enjoy some great free
music.

The Bad (?) News: How long will each group perform at their particular
concert? One song? Three songs? A full set? We don't know. Will the
networks just skip around? It's a mystery, but there will be some
lightening fast editing at work, too.

Even though it has not been mentioned, it would be cool to have all 9
concerts on DVD in a box set for Christmas. Yep, I think that they could
sell a few of those.

A big "Thanks" to those who have contributed to this thread. And, I hope
that the info helps you to better enjoy a great weekend.

Sheryl Crow - with ALL of those bands there - she can't borrow a guitar
and an amp - and a drum kit and a bass rig for that matter?? It's not
like we're talking about Queen with very specific gear requirements...
I've seen her sit on a stool with an acoustic guitar and play.

I don't know about that one...
