Does anyone know if there's a program that lets you play mp3's and it tabs out
the parts? If so, where can I find it? TIA

Yeah I got one yesterday and as an added bonus it came with a program that washes
the dishes and takes out the trash.

I got one that takes the MP3 and gets up on stage and plays it for me.
It'll even fuck the groupies and slap the sound guy around when it
starts feeding back.

as the previous posts may suggest,
there is no such software available.

There is a program called ChordTrans.
It is able to figure out the actual chord of any
piece of music.
The problem is, it won't recognize the rhythm, so
you have to press the "next chord" key every time
the chord changes.
It shows you a main suggestion and a 2nd and 3rd
choice of the chord.
I have to say, i'm not quite satisfied, but it is
a very great progress in my opinion.
I believe that within 5 years there are even such
programs you mean.
You'll find CHORDTRANS at www.musicians-ear.com
Maybe it'll help you a little!

Bugger all of you. Their is a program which will listen to a *.wav file and
tell you the chords. I had it on my computer about six months ago but then
it fucking crashed and i lost it. I don't think there is one for mp3 though.
But still, getting the chords from a sound is pretty good and if i remember
rightly it was pretty accurate too.

Whoa! The programmer must have died of parsing thru the Mp3 format to
calculate the chords. I still say it is easier to do it in a *.wav but it
is still hard all the same. I'd really like to get my hand on this one, if
there is any.

Btw, Brian, what product did you buy? hehehehe

Chris,

"DSChordFinder" by is one of two programs that I know of that do that.
The other is "Chord Transcriber" by Musician's Ear.

They each have their strengths and weaknesses. If I could roll them into
one product or convince either author to include some of the other's
features then we would have one heck of a tool for musicians!

Application: DS ChordFinder
Publisher: Dubbeldam Software
Web Site: http://www.Dubbeldam.com/
E-mail: mic...@dubbeldam.com
Registration: $39(US)
Input format: .WAV files
OS: Windows 3.1/95
Strengths: Automatic chord recognition
"Spectrum" display of notes found in chord
"fretboard" display of notes found in chord
Adjustable tuning in `1/10 step increments
Weaknesses: Screen output only (no log files)
limited chord vocabulary (major, minor, 7ths)
no ability to save your work
It is my experience that the author is not very interested
in
feedback and suggestions.
Cripples: Shareware version is the old version. Registered version
includes the ability to work out solos note by note and a
half speed option. Demo times out after 30 days.

Application: Chord transcriber
Publisher: Musician's Ear Software
Web Site: http://www.musicians-ear.com/
E-mail: in...@musicians-ear.com
Registration: $79(US)
Input format: Internal CD
Line IN jack on sound card
OS: Windows 3.1/95/NT, Macintosh
Strengths: larger chord vocabulary (major and minor triads, seventh
chords, major and minor seventh chords, sixth chords,
augmented and diminished chords, seventh sharp five
chords, and seventh flat five chords.)
Automatic pitch correction option
Lead sheet or chord list output
Playback of chords, either as audio or as MIDI
Ability to cut, paste, and alter chords, and to add lyrics
Ability to transpose chords into any key
Ability to determine the easiest key for guitar
Output of transcriptions to printer or to standard MIDI
files
offers choice of three most likely chords for each chord
change
The author has expressed interest to me in feedback and
suggestions
Adjustable tuning in 1% increments
Weaknesses: can not automaticaaly detect chord changes
Cripples: Demo limited to 3 chord changes.
