Once I download the old olga archive files, what program can open the
files? When I try to look at the files, I get a message that windows
can't open this file, and asks me if I want to go on the internet to
find a program. I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I never had a
problem viewing the files when they were online, so what aren't I
getting?

The .Z files? winrar will handle them.. either just open the .Z files
individually and use "view file" in winrar, or extract them all and tell
windows to open .tab files with notepad..
.Z is just a compression like .zip or .rar

I couldn't get Winrar to work with this at all, but 7Zip will and it's
free. Thanks to whoever posted it, it's really nice to have but just to
point out to everyone I think it's an old version as at a quick look I
can't find a file more recent than 1996.

Jamie and Dark1,

I recall the archive coming under legal pressure in 1996 though it could
have been 1998 since I learned of it in 2002 or so. They were forced to
truncate the lyrics, so in the TABs you see from early on all verses are
complete often with chords, but after you'll only get the first few words.

So, if it's "(m)oldies" you're interested in, and clearly an inestimable
treasure of music predates that change, this trove of complete ones is
golden.

Anyway, file dates reflect last modification, including moving servers
updating in batch, whatever. I'm not aware of anything that happened in
2001.

Thanks for the info. As I said, it is great to have. That said if
anyone does have a more recent copy of the archive and feels like
sharing please do :)

Cheers

Jamie

Thanks for this. I'll have to try this 7Zip because I can't get
WinRar to open these at all though..

how do you extract or use a .tab file? 7-zip doesn't seem to be
working.

Your browser will open a .tab file. Just place it into the window or
choose file - open ..

Nice, I miss OLGA, it was the best.
Sucks that only commercial websites still exist with tabs.
