Although I am a proud owner of Rickenbacker guitars , I am also an owner of
other brand name guitars and merchandise. One of these is my lovely
Epiphone PR-7 acoustic guitar. It is with great pleasure that I am able to
purchase a hat with the Epiphone logo on it and a shirt with a neat little
picture on it. And I can do so over the net. This was all done over the
musicyo website. I have also bought artist tee shirts over the net from
other companies. To wit: I bought a Tom Petty Tee shirt with Tom on the
front and a beautiful picture of a 660TP on the back. I guess if you look
hard enough, you will find Rick objects on the net.

Just how hard is it, or what are the legal problems with having a 'MUSICYO"
website taking the orders and sending out tee-shirts with yopur design on
them. ??

I have an Epiphone, A black 2001 "dot", made in Korea. Basically a copy of an ES-335. It's a nice guitar now that I replaced both pups with Seymour Duncans, had a bone nut cut for it, put on flatwound strings, and had alot of niggling adjustment work done to it.. LOL.. That's what you have to go through with less expensive guitars..
Strangely enough though, the construction & finish quality of the Korean "dot" is better then some Gibsons I've owned in the past.. Kind of sad commentary about how Gibson USA is slapping things together nowadays.. The "dot", although it gives me a credible 335-sound, is certainly no Rickenbacker though. There's not alot of comparison in the level of construction quality.
I think my Taylor acoustic is on the same level as Rics, as far as construction quality.. Taylor seems to be one company that hasn't forgotten what workmanship is about either.

I'm not sure what your question is, if there is one, but Musicyo.com is
Gibson. They sell their own merchandise through their own website just like
we do.

Just for the record, what I was getting at is for a company like RIC to
license their images, logos, names, etc to one of the various tee shirt and
knick knack firms that specializes in making the logo apparel and items,
and does the dirty work of shipping and handling customer complaints and
item returns. This leaves RIC with the time and energy to produce their
core product, guitars and basses. Sure, the tee shirt company gets a
piece of the action, but they can also produce some of their own designs
that may sell better than the company's design and the company gets to
pocket some of the increased sales. Just thinking; I do that because I am
mental...

How does Fender handle production of it's logo merchandise?

With a fleet of tractor-trailers. Their production output is measured in
metric shitloads. Seriously, I haven't a clue how Fender handles logo
merchandise. Mr. Hall was absolutely right about the musicyo thing being
run by Gibson. My Epiphone shirt has a Gibson tag on it. My question, in
the first place, was academic.
