And if you do, can I get it anywhere in TAB
Thanks,
Brian.
"Pictures of Matchstick Men", Satus Quo, 1968. Have no idea where
you'd find the tab, but Olga is a good bet.

Matchstalk Men, by Brian and Michael about Lowry.
Words here: http://www.penmoor.btinternet.co.uk/matchmen.rtf
Can't find a tab but I seem to remember it being a simple strum along so
probably not too hard to work out.

Sad moment on WinMX comes up with the goods, and I think (based on the
Houghton Weavers' version that popped out) we have:
Bb | Gm G | G | Cm
Cm | Bb | F | Bb
Chorus
Bb | Cm | F | Bb
Bb | Cm | F | Bb
Bb
He painted Salford’s smoky tops
Gm G
On cardboard boxes from the shops,
Cm
And parts of Ancoats, where I used to play.
Cm
I’m sure he once walked down our street,
Bb
‘Cos he painted kids who had nowt on their feet;
F Bb
The clothes they wore had all seen better days.
They said his works of art were dull,
“No room old lad, the walls are full.”
But Lowry didn’t care much anyway.
They he said just paints cat and dogs
And Matchstalk Men in boots and clogs
And Lowry said, “That’s just the way they’ll stay.”
Bb Cm
And he painted Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cat and Dogs,
F Bb
He painted kids on the corner of the street that were sparking clogs.
Bb
Now he takes his brush and he waits outside them factory gates,
Cm F Bb
Where he painted Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cat and Dogs
Oddly, my other tab I put up on the Net, Three Wheels On My Wagon by The New
Christy Minstrels, didn't get accepted by Olga. I worry about some people's
musical appreciation! Fortunately this classic is retained by Google<g>.

I always preferred the Camper Van Beethoven version. Great song.

They did that?? All this time I've been hearing it on the radio, I just
assumed it was Cracker... Well David Lowery sang it regardless, thats
good enough for me...
Late breaking news: the original is in C
C | Am | A | Dm
Dm | C | G | C
Chorus
C | Dm | G | C
C | Dm | G | C
with a key change for the final choruses at the end to D
D | Em | A | D

Oops!
"Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs" was a novelty single by
"Brian and Michael", a UK hit in 1978.
Quite a different song from Status Quo's psychedelic debut.
You may be able to get tab of it, but I hope not. It's one of those
songs that deserves to be forgotten forever.
The famous painter was Lowry, and the record did his reputation no
favours.
Damn you Brian for reminding me of it! (hey, whatever happened to
"Michael" anyway??)
:-)

oops myself, I need to read entire threads before replying...
Ozzy Osbourne collaborated with Type O Negative for a version of this made for
the soundtrack to Private Parts (howard sterns movie).
I've only heard the original 1 time myself, but a good tune.
