The gear of the year for me is a useful device/instrument/amp that is
worth way more than what it costs in what it does. For me that's a
volume pedal for playing live in a band context.

I've had a ShoBud Volume pedal for 35 years now. I like it best after
my effects before the amp. Allows the full hit to the effects and then
tame it down to the amp as needed. ed
