I put this together this evening just for fun:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=787260&songID=8550207

The song is Elvis Costello's "Alison". Just my voice and the geetar.
They said it couldn't be done!!

Very nice guitar work and feel. The vox was all on pitch, but somehow
lacked an edge the song needs. I bet if you kept singing that for a year
or so more you could get a bit of that angry edge the song really needs
to work.

It's one of my favorite songs ever. I've tried turning it into one of my
songs, but so far I've given up before I've really got there. You have
inspired me to give it another shot. What a great song that is, eh?

...I'm sorta fond of this performance of "Veronica":

Maybe, maybe not. That might be as "edgy" as my voice gets.
One "problem" is that I learned Linda Ronstadt's version back in the day
well before I ever heard Costello's original. Maybe that
"pre-programmed" my brain?

It's a good song. The ambiguity of the lyrics is outstanding! "I only
know it isn't mine"? WTF is he talking about?

Thanks for the comments!

Nice job Rich. I really liked the guitar playing.

Elvis is such a good songwriter.

I think the "edge" Sean is talking about will require a few more
cartons of cigs, and a few more gallons of Jackie D. :-)

I'm probably already maxed out on cigs ;-) The other stuff I can do
without.

"'cause I don't know if you are loving some body.
I only know it isn't mine."

The (some)body she's loving isn't his.

I read an interesting interpretation online someplace.

"loving somebody" --> not him, obviously, no need to re-imply it
"it isn't mine" --> the baby she's pregnant with

The cigs aren't necessary, but I think whiskey would help.

Nice - Rich - raw and unpolished, no need for perfection and endless
nitpicking - I enjoyed it . thanks for putting it out there. Ed

Just voice and guitar, I beat Billy Bragg would have been happy with
that version. Nice guitar playing.
