What should I expect out of Fender 9050 chrome flats?

I was at the local music shop and picked up a set of 9050 Fender flat
chromes.

I've used TI flats (Which I simply love!) and Lord knows how many
brands of rounds and tapes.

But I've never strung anything I know of with Flat Chrome strings.

I'm thinking on putting them on a standard Jazz bass fretless.

Any thoughts?

Then again, when I get th neck lined out on the Dr Heartfield, I might
put them on it instead.

decisions...decisions....

I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had enough of whatever magic
ingredient helps punch through the rest of the band. Mid-range nectar. Or
something. Obviously, the bass is part of this equation too. But it worked
for me, for the R&B & blues my band plays most of the time.

I found myself playing a little closer to the bridge than with rounds,
though. If that's not a comfortable thing to do with your bass, you may not
like them.

Decisions, decisions....you can always move them to another bass. And then
back again. :-)

Thanks doug. I did some more digging around and found out that these
are actually polishied stainless steel instead of actual "chromium"
and they are a high tension string. a lot of good praises with them
aoo I think I'll put them on the Fender fretless and see what happens.
because of the squared headstock I think I'll leave the Heartfield to
something else seeing I'd have to cut the strings then if I do that
they'll be Fender -phobic.

Hmmm, then again there's the old Alumi-neck Kramers...

Ah! Just think of the possibilities!

If you want a bright yet mellow sound, like the fact that your fingers to never bleed you will love these strings. There are some sounds that you can't do with them such as scratching the strings but they sound fantastic if you ever do such strange things as using a violin bow. Just remember to always keep one of your guitars or basses round wound.
