I wonder what prompted the split.
Contracts run out. Rose Morris' one did, and Korg
came in with big cash. Now Korg's has, yet I think
by now Marshall decided to run their own show.
Up to now, all Marshall's were 'Dist by'...
Merson-Unicord..Rose Morris..Korg...
Korg owns Vox now, so maybe they want
to direct interest towards that. Here's a ? :
Now, we have cut out a % of the price of any
Marshall product. Korg isn't getting their cut.
..and I'd guess it was a good one..
Will Marshall eat that $, maybe cut prices a bit,
maybe invest it? Look at Orange today. Back
then, Orange was not a big company, yet today
they sell all they make and are bigger then anyone
would of ever thought. I say Marshall will pocket it.
I'd like to see if Marshall USA retains to same old
NY island building that Unicord and Korg did.

Don't forget, there's going to be both a one-time and a recurring force for
Marshall to set up its own sales/distribution network in the US. They may
not have all that much left over to pocket.
Recurring *cost*. D'oh!

Good point. It's UK amp 101:
Landing a Vox AC30 on US soil was great for the
east coast. Landing a China amp today arrives
on the WEST coast, making land shipping cheaper.
A few US companies set up 'mid USA' points, Sunn
for one. There was a time Sunn was made in the
mid-west. Not for long. But shipping wood and
speaker dead pounds from 'nyc' to the west,
or stuff from Portland to reach Boston.
Marshalls shipped from NY to LA cost more then
shipping China whatever from LA 2 Boston.
There is a well known VOX online store that has
come to terms with Korg to make old VOX cabs
and heads and even stands.. Look here:
http://www.voxshowroom.com/northcoast/shopping/index.htm
They also ship guitars/basses better then anyone I know.
Rumor is..and I have no proof... yet heard it 4-5 times.
Said company builds cabs for US Korg/Vox products.
And they do it VERY well. The 1st 3 times I installed
a old Super-Beatle into one on their re-pros, it was
amazing. Slight Mods, but the cabs n stands are so
good. And, cheap. Folks know the stickx...

I've done business with those folks a few times, they have some good support
for old Rickenbacker and Gretsch guitars, of which I have a few :-)
Those stand for AC30s caught my eye, I may just have to order one of those
for mine.
