Enjoyed that. Rich K's diggin it I bet. Pity some french guy can do
this in his garage but we can't do it with a large scale factory
operation here.
Some garage... nice. Glass lathe, etc.
Crazy vid... enjoyed it very much.

Well, no wonder SS displaced tubes :)- That guy is quite a craftsman;
apparently done by eye measurements and yet everythng came out just
right.
Greg
P.S. I was looking at some older music catalogs from the 60's and 70's
when SS was marketed as "Space age" and SS amps cost WAY mroe than
tube equivalents, but then agian, the wattage was WAY higher on those
SS amps. I saw SS amps from the 60's with MSRPs of $800-1000... ouch.
Well....the big claim to fame back then was "hey look! no tubes to
replace...it'll last a lifetime!"
Not quite the case with Germanium pwr transistors.
It's real impresive. Course it'd be enormously expensive to hand
build tubes, and something like a 12ax7 would be even harder yet.
I didn't realize that people were home rolling their own tubes, but I
guess that shouldn't surprise me because someone had to build the
first ones.
I know there're a few people who make their own caps for guitars, but
this is a lot more extreme.

Hmm, I was living in Mississippi when Peavey amps were first
produced. They were half the price of a Fender of comparable
size. They also sounded half as good.
The 1967 Kalamazoo catalogs had the SS versions of
the Model 1 and 2 at $10 higher apiece, a small
amount today, more then-- and a noticeable %age.
Not long after that, the Kalamazoo line quietly bit
the dust. The tube amps were great (and should have
been marketed better!) but the SS amps were just
another SS amp when everyone had one... or twelve.
LOL, I just now caught it.
It's an indirectly heated triode. I have to watch it again tonight when I have more time to absorb
it. The phone keep ringing.
Laters...

RIGHT!
Still didn't get a chance to watch it.
Tomorrow is another day.
