I'm searching for good Photoshop forum, with friendly members who really
know how to work with Photoshop and who are eager to help people like me who
are just starting. It should also be a forum with at least more than let's
say 10 new posts a day.

Anyone?

Well, not photoshop, but maybe worth a look because it is a terrific group
for paint shop pro7 , obviously other things are covered, it is about the
perfect group,
comp.graphics.apps.paint-shop-pro

kind, helpful,polite,
50 odd messages a day,

Not everyone is kind helpful and polite, not even me. : ) But really this
is the best place online to get help in the fastest possible way. No other
group has this active a level of participation and is generally eager to
help answer questions from beginning to advanced. There is only one thing
that will get you a particularly hostile reaction as a newbie that will
instantly trash the kind of responses you get. If people get a sniff you
are using bootleg software you will be mercilessly thrashed. Other than
that you should be fine. Deviant Art.com is pretty populated but a little
more complex to navigate. I think the MyJanee.com forum might meet your
minimum requirement but I don't know if that will get you a fast enough
response. I frequently get responses to my questions here in as little as
twenty minutes.

Actually, Mike, that is far from true!
I don't know where you are getting your statistics. You are maybe
looking at the current number of categories, each of which has a number
of forums, each of which has a number of forums. I keep the old topics
pruned out, too, and just Monday removed all of the over 100 topics and
400 posts for the February Challenge.

There are lots of days that we get more than 10 hits. Our community
consists of 161 members (not all of whom are active, though) and only a
couple of the people have not been nice and they were summarily tossed
to the tar pits.

Since there is not an active Challenge going right now, we have an
active Show and Tell category with 3 forums (Art, sites, or links) in
which you can post your links or your comments. There are forums for
questions on PS, on other apps, on computer setups, tablets, etc.

Anyway.. you are invited to give us a shot. www.myjanee.com and click on
Messgage Board. (I receive NO revenue of any kind from my site.)
Always me, Janee

I think Deviant Art does have a pretty big Photoshop section but I totally
agree with you its hard to navigate, and to get the most out of it you have
to pay 3 bucks a month. I realize this site is kind of ugly compared to a
web page but you should consider poking your nose in here when you have a
really tough situation. This is the best place if you want to get good. But
it just occurred to me what might be just right for you. Go to
Renderosity.com and find the Photoshop section. The people are pretty nice,
they post their art regularly and a nice feature is you don't necessarily
have to hang out there to see if your mail got answered. If you post a
question when you return to the site it will alert you your message was
answered and display the response at the top of the page. Did you notice
how many responses you got here though Mike in four hours. And Janee, a
major photoshop guru responded to you directly. Good luck finding that
level of response in another group you big dumb bonehead. See I told you I
wasn't always polite. Back to my Rice a Roni.
: )

Don't know if this will meet your exacting demands but it has a fairly
active forum and some good tutorials.

Mike,

The best resource you could find in this area is actually better found in
local designer's groups and weekend workshops. You can meet people with
similar interests and varying skill levels, almost all of whom are pleased
to share their knowledge with you, as long as you don't abuse their time.

Another option would be to choose a few people in a forum like this and
begin an email friendship. Using this kind of structure along with short
tutorial books like "The Photoshop WOW Book" is probably the best you can
get outside of a classroom equipped with a really decent instructor.

None are as active as this newsgroup, that I know of.
I don't know much about the Yahoo clubs, but there are lots of them that
don't do much.
Never seen an unfriendly group. Usually someone will help, and often offer
to write a tutorial.
If you know of any more, please post.

Have you tried the Adobe U2U forums on the Adobe Web site? Go to Adobe
Support and click User to User forums. You'll have to register, but they're
free, and there's no spam from them. The Photoshop forum has thousands of
messages, a FAQ, and it's moderated, so foolishness is limited. However,
don't expect anyone to put up with too many simple questions whose answers
are readily available in easily found web sites or the Photoshop manual. You
still have to do some of the work yourself.

Best wishes,

TJ

P.S. They're also on Usenet. Server is adobeforums.com.

Or look at this;

http://www.myjanee.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard3/ikonboard.cgi

68 subjects in the whole forums.
I don't understand how you get the idea that you have a lot of people
posting in your forum...

Gee whiz, guys.. i didn't mean to say that there are a lot of people
posting in my forum! (Though when i have a Challenge going, there are
many more posts than now. A couple of weeks ago, i took out the February
Challenge forums which contained over 100 topics and a total of several
hundred posts.)

What i thought that the poster was seeking was a community with about 10
posts a day, not a LOT. My site's community is not large (166 members),
but there are many days when we have had 10 or more posts! I'm seeing 79
topics at the bottom of the page there. not sure where you are seeing
11, unless you are looking at the different forums, in which case, i'm
counting 10. (Within each forum are topics.)

But sure... if you want a LOT of posts, go to the Adobe forums (which
give me hives) or come here to Usenet, which i find friendly much of the
time.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. Anyone who seeks to make my forum
busier, as long as it is salient business, is welcome, too.

The link doesn't quite work and the site is down until Monday. Here's
the correct link:

Of course, I haven't the vaguest idea if it's any good.
