If I'm not mistaken, Impressionist came with MS Image Composer and I think
that, in turn, came with the MS Front Page 97 package. So, if you find a
copy of Front Page 97, you've found Impressionist.
I also seem to recall that to install it into Photoshop Plug-ins, you first
had to install the Image Composer program. Doing this would install the
necessary files into the Windows directory. You then copied the
Impressionist Plug from Image Composer to Photoshop. Then you were safe to
uninstall Image Composer.
I could be off on a couple of details. Perhaps someone else can chime in.
Yes, it is a great plug. As a mater of fact, I should see if I still have it
around in my mess somewhere. If I find it I'll let you know.

Keith.

I beleive it was included in FrontPage 98. What as to later versions,
hopefully Sally The Plugin Collector would know :-)

Absolutely correct. Although original distribution I've seen included it in
the form of .8bf file, it was *not* operational plugin that could be just
copied. It had to be installed, then copied anywhere you want (together with
subfolders full of preset brushes and stuff).

Well, at least I may safely say it was the only useful component of
FrontPage :-)))

I did recieve a demo from a kind fellow, but it had one brush on it.
I will need to find it all one day. So sad. It is a real bummer
while trying to start a collection, that so many "good" (thats what
I'm told) filters are not available anymore. I really don't know how
to find this kind of stuff. Do I just network the user groups like
I'm doing? Is there any recomendations? Heck if Ilyich is in here I
must be in the right place. Good thing I wasn't looking for a crack
to his new ones huh? lol. Thanks all. -Jeremy

Not condoning or suggesting anything at all so don't flame me but M$
Impressionist is floating around on the WinMX network. Several people seem
to be sharing it.

There aren't really all that many "good" filters which aren't available any
more. Actually, I can think of very few which don't have some legitimate
means of distribution. Impressionist happens to be one of them which is a
little difficult to locate. I found a non-registered unopened copy of
Front Page 98 on ebay for $30 last week. Pretty cheap for a plugin of that
quality, and you can trash everything else on the CD.

Check out www.freephotoshop.com and www.thepluginsite.com for lots of links
and resources.

Wise guy. I prefer to refer to myself as a Filter Aficionado. ;-)))).
I'll test drive 'em so you don't have to.

To the best of my knowledge, it was included with Image Composer in Front
Page 98, and some stand-alone versions of Front Page 2000.

Yes that is where I got my Impressionist Plug-ins in both Front Page 98 and 2000 and I
also came with my copy of Visual Studio 97. In all three cases it was sent with Microsoft
Image Composer 1.5, a great little program.
