Is there a plug-in for PS which allows to add a matt border? I saw a framed
picture the other day with a virtual matt -- it looks as a real one and I
didn't realized immediately that the matt is drawn. I guess it's possible
to do that manually but maybe there is a way to automate the process.

Thanks,
Igor

Hi,

An easy way would be to scan a material with the structure you like

There is a very good product called House Portraits which has this effect
and the quality is extraordinary. I have seen it in action and the printed
results from a Durst Lambda Digital Photographic printer and, you're right
it is very realistic.
I am unaware who makes this product although I guess that you could look
"House Portraits" up in www.google.com

I would expect anything printed on a Durst Lambda to be "very
realistic" .... :-)

By the way ... tried every search engine I could find. Lots of hits
for house portraits (people that paint portraits of houses) ... but
only one for the software you mentioned and that was from a guy that
uses it in his portrait studio. Appears to be a limited distribution
commercial application not general availabe to the public. Likely cost
and arm and a leg ... but would go nicely with a Durst Lamba ... which
would cost your other arm and leg. Ha! ..... :-)

Greeetings Igor!
I have a little tutorial that i wrote on making a virtual
frame for a picture and i think that this might work well
for you. I also have one for "burned edges" that you might
be able to use. Making an action from your process would be
a way to automate the process. If you want to check them
out, you can find my tutorials at

Sold by John Hartman, Contemporary Photography.

Phone #715-341-3527. Has 2 different disks. You will want to spend the $ and
buy both the regular and then the bonus disk. If you get very serious about
using the program you will want to buy autofx. It is available for both Mac
and PC.

Yep Wiz, I would expect it to look good on a Lambda which is why I bought
one. The point is, the Lambda would show up weaknesses in any digital file
as it's rather unforgiving of poor technique or cheap effects.
The output from our 50" 130 Lambda on those files with the "House Portrait"
effects were, as I said, very realistic.
