Here is a neat little action for Photoshop 6 users.

Place the file into your actions folder and then open an RGB image and apply
the action. It creates a watercolor effect that also includes a loose line
art drawing of the photograph using Smart Blur with Edges Only. It will run
by itself though.

Here's a breakdown of the process which you may follow along, and record
your own action before proceeding:

Open File.

Confirm RGB or Grayscale Mode Single Layer File

Duplicate Layer (leave name alone)

Duplicate Layer Again (leave name alone)

Filter/Artistic/Dry Brush
Size: 2
Detail: 8
Texture: 1

Filter/Blur/Smart Blur
Radius: 10
Threshold: 50
Quality: High
Mode: Normal

Hide Current Layer

Select Layer "Background Copy"

Image/Adjust/Desaturate

Filter/Blur/Smart Blur
Radius: 25
Threshold: 35
Quality: High
Mode: Edge Only

Invert

Select Layer "Background Copy 2"

Set current layer To: layer mode: multiply

This works great with still life photography. Have a great day!

Gee, this seems awfully similar to a tutorial that was posted here a few
days ago... right down to the numbers for the Dry Brush filter. Handy
action, though. ;-)

I don't know where this action can be gotten but it sounds interesting. Just
thought I'd opine that you should NOT put downloaded actions into
Photoshop's Actions folder. Better to place them somewhere else, outside of
the Photoshop folder entirely and load them from that location.
