If there's any potential evil sorts of DRILL applications, I'm certain that we'll figure those out and apply such in a very ethnic or NWO one- sided way, long before any peaceful or astronomy constructive sorts of applications get into public mainstream physics and science.
As I'd said before, the zero Delta-V of our Selene/moon L1 would always make a terrific location for hosting that DRILL or whatever laser cannons, as well as for accommodating a tethered dipole element reaching another loaded science platform to within 2r of Earth (a bit closer [>1.5r] if you'd dare).

The evil application of any tool is a foregone conclusion, Brad. A hammer, a screwdriver, all tools can be found to be dangerous in the wrong hands, or even in the right ones, for defence. This is one reason why we would closely attend to the construction of a Braguthic Drill on Earth.
The BD works anywhere, on any platform or location. The location available to science presently is Earth's surface. One has to start somewhere.
The s.e group has been inactive for some time, now. Google groups might have to be approached to add s.e back onto their server.
Those other four stars are our sean crew, our human crew, all life in the Milky Way, all life in the Universe. Or they can be the elements, Air, Earth, Water, Fire, and the Fifth Star would be Milla Jovovich as "Leeloo"? <G> The stars can be whatever you like, Brad, whatever is truly significant to you.

Please submit the construction plans post haste. We need to start off with a 1" diameter laser, so that we can relieve the pressure inside GuthBalls head. Then we will build a 6 foot diameter one, which can look through women's clothing.
