Description: The gothic movement: things mournful and dark.

Caitlin
Caitlin was my first internet girlfriend. It was different from most relationships since I did not see her often. I think near the end I saw her picture that she sent. Up until that point, this was how I imagined her: [link]... more »

refugee fandangon't
Mr. Aruct Rightangle and Ms. Four Orthophrene were refugees from the now defunct country of Squarocubeberg, and found shelter in distant lands, namely Eivthne-on-Srenthweave. More specfically, a small hostel/inn/what-have-you youth sanctuary kept by Mrs. Neutrino-Biopsydottir. The first day there they had gotten set up in their rooms, watched... more »

C19- the unofficial Calling of the Rolls
(Whereon some smartass yells "cinnamon" and another "kaiser"... the rest of us throw them in the river, then retire to the bar.) From a recent ill-formed email, it looks like close to 100 people are registered... anyone here going? I can think of at least 3 or 4, who also might be the last readers of this newsgroup.... more »

software guidelines
Thank you for purchasing the x86-64 architecture /bin/xenix executable from Microsoft Computer Corporation. This binary was marinated in 700% nitrogen triiodide at -270K for 18 months while people coated in gnutella and maypole syrup muttered in Aymara at it before being freeze-dried and encoded onto the distribution media. If you are... more »

Daevid Allen=CIA / tin foil hat + Robotussin DM / Radiohead
I've been sorting through RADIOHEAD post their 90s unpalpable (mostly) rock stuff towards their millienium non-rock stuff and had this to say to Dr. Scott in Denmark. "Try to be in a "metatemporal" mode with later abstract Radiohead stuff. From the "Kid A", "Amnesiac", "Hail To The Thief", "In Rainbows" and "The King Of Limbs" albums, i.e. post 2000 millienia they REALLY got interesting. It is alot like the band are projecting Super Villain prophecy on Korova Milk bar dosage and post-psych Art New Wave, like if Can were strung out on meth in jumpsuits and Clockwork Orange bowler hats babbling in NadSat ala Chrome, thrashing about with electronics and loops. It really is "heavy coded" stuff, not straighforward, but once you "get it" or get past the abstract coded noise and babble, albums like "In Rainbows" is Brutal like a 60s Marvel comic or thrashy like Giant Transforming Robot fights. They use alot of comic book design on their later LP s as well."... more »

Movie Review
Solomon Kane [2009] is an interest experiment in how a film can do pretty much everything right, almost exactly, with the exception of having an interesting and gripping story. The acting was pretty good. It had Max Von Sydow in it. There was a pretty girl and enough rain to even make Ridley Scott wish for a ray of sunshine. There were lots of decent... more »

A surreal night at the pet cemetery
Not your average Presidio photography:a surreal night at the pet cemetery [link] Some really nice photos of San Francisco's decaying pet cemetary, mostly hidden under the approach roads to the Golden Gate Bridge. The stuff on lostamerica.com amazing.... more »
