Hello. I have known about alt.gothic forever but had never joined the
community for some reason. I feel it's long past time I actually join
the community and I figured I may as well say a proper hello. So,
hello!

Greetings! Same situation here...recently joined in because it was many years past due. Are you going to be attending Convergence this year?

Hello.
It's kinda quiet, but a few of us still read & post. Who knows, maybe the
group will start seeing some real conversations.

Okay, you've installed a Tsunque & Stevens model 750 unit, clearly.
I can make out the pictures of the monkey in the vat of sheepdip that
is their logo. Flutter and flange leveled out at one part in 2^128th?
Metaphor amplification at 24THz without any unsightly compounded
Gibbs artifacts from excessive FFTs in the audio processing stack? Good.
The sparse ottoman filter only letting in wavelets of the appropriate
probability amplitude? Also good. The tip of the distribution nozzle
only thirty Planck lengths in radius? What a funky aperture! In the centre
of the aperture, just two Planck lengths from the focus of the stream there's
a region where the probability *function* takes quaternion values when the unit
is in full working order. I wonder who actually engineered that for them.
Very very messy to simulate on commodity hypercomputer hardware. But, damn,
if you find yourself stuck on New Lappeenranta with nothing but a
Stoopwafel and a citrus rooibos and lemon and it's like 34kpc to the nearest
fun place and you're stuck without a conveyance the T & S model 750 begins
to look like a very handy and portable piece of hyperengineering. Forget
caterpillar submarines, translunar injection burns, halo orbits, and whatnot.

Oh, but, you're *what* again? That sort of thing is against your religion?
I didn't know. I wasn't intentionally trying to be offensive. It's just
that keeping track of those... restrictions against the use of
hyperengineering are a bit hard for me to follow. But you do have a
Tsunque & Stevens model 750, so I'm a little confused. What do you do with it?
And why is there a piece of gouda glued to it?

Please note that unlike some of the other nonsense posts that show up
here, oonh is actually ours and there is only one of him.

Accept no imitations. Do not imitate. If shaken, set on a hard surface
and get away.

Wait, I take that back. I like this one better:

"You, Mr. Satar, AGSF #57 and member of the welcoming commitee, are a
blistering,
puss-filled sore on the ass of AG, and now I am waiting patiently for
you to screw
up so someone can finally lance you." - Storm 1998

15 years later and I am still here! Victory is mine!

Seeing how I am still here, I am still puss filled. Just seems that
the body I have festered on for so many years has died. ;)
