number a: how do I tell X not to antialias 8 point monaco in my xterms?
worked in jaunty, now looks weird. (once I figured out that I could
have bitmap monaco in X, was overjoyed, now irritated)

letter 2: I have $wifiessid. how do I tell the machine to automatically
connected to $wifiessid without having to login to a gnome enabled
account?

elephant #8: .xsession? (known bug)
