nothing?[1]

Cut-off jeans are a good option, or light army pants (full length, shorts,
or cut-offs). These also have the advantage that they're usually not too
expensive, particularly if you have an army surplus store near you.

Actually I find that if you just force yourself to get used to the hot
weather, you will. I lived through a FL summer with no air conditioning b/c
I was in grad school and couldn't afford it. Afterwards, let me tell ya -
hot weather doesn't phase me anymore.
I'd say perhaps cut down on the number of black items you wear -- white can
be goth too. As far as trousers go, you can't go too far wrong with
khaki's -- I never wear shorts. - Nicole

I have worked on a 3000 degree furnace, and last summer we had no
working AC for most of the summer.
I still can't tolerate hot weather. It actually makes me physically
sick. Building up tolerance just doesn't work for everyone.

Nudity.
I went "shopping" yesterday, and while i'm all for branching out a
bit, I will *not* wear pink, lime, powder blue, yellow (CHRIST! WHO
WEARS YELLOW?), white or anything pastel.
In other words, I'm completely screwed.
I really *hate* summer.
All I wear, in general, is tank tops and long skirts. But I hate the
way that looks. I like having my arms covered. I like wearing
stockings. I hate being warm. I hate sweat.
So really, I just think I shall refuse to leave the house at all for
the next six months, and just sit around naked, with the air
conditioning on.
Because it's obvious I won't be getting any clothes.

Hmmm. I can't work with that extreme an example...
I forgot to mention- DRINK TONIC WATER. With lemon or lime it's OK. It was
the ONLY thing that would cool me down. Plain water just didn't do the
trick.
Good luck - Nicole
my last one wore out and got put in the "goodwill" box about 2 months
back. i think it may say something that i actually wore them out. :) i
still have most of my "slightly ragged black cotton sweater" collection
though. and i have... hrmm... 5 pairs of docs, to match my cuttoff
army pants and long johns. :)
and a vast collection of leggings to be worn under ragged jeans...
i loved grunge. :)

I recently bought straight cut black pants made of light cotton from H&M
for about 30$. They are really nice to wear in hot weather, and can be
combined with a lot of things, thought they don't look very fancy by
themselves. That's also a great casual business atire, if your orkplace is
not very goth-friendly. Other than that, I love my black army shorts. I
also like wearing a tank top or a tight-fitting tshirt with a
loose-fitting army shirt over it - it keeps the sun from my arms but is
still reasonably cool, and if it gets too hot, the shirt isn't as
encumbering as a pullover or jacket would be.

My sister. We make quite a pair when she's in a yellow or pink
dress (or even pastel plaid shirts) and sandals and I'm in big
black boots, black baby t and black skirt :)

w00t! If I could get away with not working or working from home,
i'd do the same. Have you tried simple black dresses like sheaths
and A line dresses? Or even skirts and baby t's?? I know I hate
it when i have nothing to wear except a broomstick skirt and a
tank top..for some reason I feel dumpy.
To the original poster, what's wrong with black jeans? Seems
perfectly acceptable with a t shirt for just hanging out during
the day. Also you might want to try baggy pants (not quite as
baggy as "phat" pants but still loose and airy). For guys, I also
always liked the t shirt, long baggy shorts and boots look.

Skirts! Nice and cool, lightweight flowing skirts.
I saw a goth boy across the street from my house just
the other day, wearing a long black skirt. He looked
cute.

I found a really neat pair of black mens cybery nylon zip-off cargo pants
(*whew* what a mouthful!) at Zellers, of all places. The nylon is nice and
light, so they should be pretty good for summer. They're Request brand,
and not all that expensive - $30 or $35...
As well, someone mentioned skirts so I have to say utilikilt!
(www.utilikilts.com) I'm still dying to see a picture of a cute AGF-boi in
one of these! *grin*
