Various pressies for my friends (waterpistols, a mummy keyring, a soccer
player keyring, several pro-cannabis pins, a shirt, a rose, lunch, some

A pen for my hubby with a little 'puter on top

For Me Me Me Me:
Black lace poet shirt
Black tshirt with a glammed out chick on it and the words "Let it Rock" in
silver dot glitter (really very 73's glammish)
Glow in the dark stars

Pink hairclips for use with tonight's outfit
2 pairs of socks...1 w/flames, 1 w/dragons
Items for my Halloween swap partner :)

Dark pink glitter gel and lipgloss in the exact same shade
Mauve lipstick
Red Sailor Moon brand glitter gel
Green Sailor Moon brand glitter gel

I needed some serious retail therapy and I had a great thrift store day.
Actually 2 days because I am including yesterday.

At various thrift stores:
-3 extremely full knee length petty coats, 1 white, 1 red, and 1 black for 3.50
each (the white one is too big for me so it is destined for ebay, but it was
the prettyest of the three construction wise)
-1 not so full knee length petty coat that is just 3 layers of red crinoline
with a satin overlay so the red just peeks out when you move for 3.50
-a full black cotton skirt with ruffles at the bottom to wear over the little
petty coat also 3.50
-a really simple red raw silk shirt that is just gorgeous for $3
-a simple waist length black button down with pretty embroidery on the collar
for $3
-a black crushed velvet tunic with laces at the collar and pretty
embellishments for $3
-really cool black boots that will be even niftier when I clean and polish them
for $2.50
-5 halloween mugs in various designs for $1.50 each
-a really heavy little orange box purse with a lot of silver hardware for a
buck

And since the halloween store finally opened so I had to go there and I ended
up buying a really pretty soft fabric irridescent green butterfly mask and a
plain plastic mask to decorate.

Yesterday, actually...at a cool old antique mall
I got a box purse. I believe it's leather (black) and
is covered with all sorts of silver hardware and has
an 'old-fashioned' suitcase lock (push the button and
the latch pops up). It has strap holders on the sides,
and the rather helpful sales lady suggested I make
a strap out of chain. I may just hit up Big Lots or
the $1 store for chain leashes and make one out of
those.

Posting from Google because the thread has expired in my
newsreader....

Today I bought more stuff than I usually buy in a month.
Don't know what came over me.... blame Halloween!

First, I got a big tube of Feria conditioner at Sally's.
Kirkham looked at funny colored hair dye but decided against
it for now.

Next I went to Old Navy while Kirkham was in Petsmart. I
got a wind-up toddling black cat (birthday present for
someone) and one of the black cat flashlights. I could
not resist the flashlight. The cat's mouth opens and the
light shines out its mouth. It has little fangs and a
squat shape that reminds me of my Neko Basu (cat bus from
My Neighbor Totoro)so I got it to keep Neko Basu company.
Though I may carry it on Halloween for fun.

Then we went to Border's for coffee. They were having
Teacher's Appreciation Weekend. I asked if it applied to
School of Ed students, not really thinking it would, but
they said "sure"... so I got a coupon for 25% off my
whole purchase for today. Kirkham got an Ella Fitzgerald
cd (birthday present for someone) and I got the Victoria
Regina tarot. It's awesome! I have been into collage
art with 19th century steel engravings lately, so it fits
into my current obsession. Here's a link if you want to
know more about this deck: http://www.thefool.com/

I would never have gotten it without the 25% off, but now
that I've seen it I think it's worth full price. There is
a book and a satin-lined velvet bag, black with sapphire
blue drawstring and tassles. The art is very cool, and though
the quality of the reproductions is not as high as I would
like, still it's quite good and I will enjoy exploring it
more. If you like Victoria stuff, or collage art, it is
worth checking out.

I ducked into the Hallmark store to see what Halloween
stuff they had, but most of it was too cute for my taste.
However they had some funny cards. I got one with the
photo of the old women witches that shows up on some card
at least once every Halloween. They are sitting around
a table drinking from teacups. The caption reads, "You
really only have to put in one eyeball. Most people put
in two, but that's where they make their mistake. Really
you only have to put in one." I cracked up, so I had to
buy two, one for me, one for a friend.

We still had time to kill before our movie, so we went to
Target. I got a doormat with a stylized black cat centered
in a gold full moon, on a black background. I felt guilty
then about spending so much money, so I passed on all the
Halloween socks. I did get this little stack of three tiny
boxes, with cats/bats/ghosts/haunted houses/spiders all
over, which are filled with candy. The smallest box has a
candy eyeball, but the others have non-spooky candy. I
bought them for the boxes, which I'm going to use to keep
small stuff organized on my desk.

Kirkham got a file cabinet (black) and boxers (green paisley,
non-Goth). Then we went to see One Hour Photo, which I
recommend if you have ever worked in a Kmart, WalMart, or
any sterile, joyless store. I was thinking "No wonder the
guy is batshit. Look at where he works. I'd be batshit too."
Anyway, it is creepy and totally worth it to see Robin Williams
be an obsessive, psychotic freak.

I thought maybe it was the installment plan. ;)

So here's what I bought yesterday... every so often I just can't resist
something at hot topic, so I bought two t-shirts for me, one for fiancé, a
poster, and some nail polish, but let's not dwell on my shame. ;) At a thrift
store I really made out like a bandit though.. for the same $65 (meep!) that I
spent at Hot Topic, I got the following:

1. Long black kind of crinkly-textured rayon skirt. I think it was supposed to
be floor-length on someone a bit shorter than I am, but it falls a couple inches
above my ankles and actually looks quite nice worn over a full-length sheer
skirt (I wore it over an organza ballgown skirt thing last night).

2. Black knee-length sheer skirt with built-in slip and black lace trim on the
bottom.

3. Above-the-knee mock-wraparound skirt in almost-black, grey, and dark blue
plaid. This one was originally from the Gap (eek!) and still had its Gap store
tag on it - new $24.99, I got it for $7. Muahaha.

4. Plain black above-the-knee A-line skirt with a little slit (about 3 inches,
more of a notch really) on one side.

5. Another plain black skirt rather like the above except made of a kind of
imitation suede material. Really soft and oo nice.

6. Yet Another Above-the-Knee Black Skirt, this one with two zippers on the
front (kind of like you see on a lot of Lip Service pseudo-"bondage" clothing),
that are actual pockets.

7. Another skirt of same general form, this time made out of something that's
very very dark red and kind of iridescent, so that at some angles it looks
black, with black lace trim on the bottom. Really weird stretchy fabric, its tag
says acetate and "elastane" whatever that is. I'd have called it neoprene.

8. Black crop-length sweater with shiny metallic bits in it as well as the red
trim at waist and cuffs.

9. Stretchy tight v-neck sweater with wide gray band on top, narrow black
stripe, wide red metallic band, narrow grey stripe, and then body of it is
black.

10. Black shirt/cardigan thing, front zip and a button at the collar.

11. Black long-sleeve turtleneck shirt, this one is Lands' End - what is it with
me and finding "normal" brands in thrift stores? hehe.

12. Black long-sleeve scoop-neck sweater, 100% merino wool.

Average price per item for that haul was um, about $5.50. :)

I also found the most *beautiful* floor-length black multilayered crepe/chiffon
skirt, but it was way too big in the waist. It was even too big to sit down on
the hips. I lack the skill to alter it, if such an alteration would have been
possible given the cut and fabric of the skirt. It was sad. :(

Darn it, I keep missing those sales. Though with a closet already
half-full of tulle, perhaps that's for the best. :)

Yesterday I was 300 miles from home, finishing up cleaning the old
apartment, when I took a break to wander around the town fair. This
fair specializes in Local Artists and lots of tie-dye and batik, so
most of the wares are wildly colored and wildly expensive. This time,
however--I found a dress of light blue embroidered fabric, nicely
weighted and soft, with crocheted lace all along the neckline. Regency
style?, but sans sleeves. (Thinking, Sense and Sensibility.) And it
*fit*! Best of all, the dress and a matching petticoat came to only
$55. Never been particularly consumed with desire for this sort of
dress, but I've been trying it on about every five minutes and can't
wait for a semi-fancy occasion so I can wear it for real. :)

I went to Target this afternoon. Cute T-shirts and Halloween stuff
but I felt like I shouldn't be buying clothes... ended up anyway...
two lace shirts for $2.24 each (in the clearance section) one in
magenta, one in deep purple, because I think it's smart to double up
on stuff

And also a $40 digital camera, but that might get returned.

big foamy rainbow print squares,

pink glow bracelet,

a big fake spider,

black spraypaint,

some candles,

plus pounds of beads (for bracelet making), and tons of stickers.

Well if you couldn't tell, today was "raid the craft store" day. Have
only found a handfull of neat Halloween things though. Most stores

Shopped on Saturday, in Leicester, and bought;

A Guerlain powder compact, in "transparent"; I've been looking for a nice
powder compact for a while, and unfortunately YSl and Chanel (whose
foundationa nd powder I usually use) only do big, rather ugly compacts,
which actually aren't very compact at all. The Guerlain one is round, and
gold, and nice and small, so I'm happy.
Also got a Bourgeouis black eyeliner pencil (I love their eyeliner pencils;
nice and soft and smudgy, but I find they last quite well too), and some
wool; grey, for the blanket I'm making, and a really pretty shade of pale
purple for a future project.

Not much, but;
A set of battery-powered Halloween lights - orange pumpkins and green
spider webs - I've taped them round the 'puter montitor.
A little black cat wearing a purple witch's hat - it's one where you
pull the string and it vibrates.
A mid-calk lenght black and white tartan kilt - from the charity
shop, I'm very pleased with it!

After work I bought at Savers:

Long nylon black cargo skirt
black knee-high fishnets with pvc bands at the top that lace up
black sleeveless satiny top with lace collar
writhing snakes armband temp tattoo
black/purple vamp wig that's going back

Then I went home and not 10 minutes later saw the local
news covering Halloween shopping live at--you guessed it--Savers.

Well, yesterday now:

100 deep blue carrier bags

3 silver female torso dummy-form things

2 black male torso-things

20 hanger clips.

A big pack of UV pink cards

A big black marker pen.

Exciting, huh?

Those plastic torso things are the best! They are 3-dimensional on the
front, & go from neck to thigh, but hollow on the back, & can have a
hanger-hook fitted at the neck, so you can hang them flat on the wall to
display clothes, or on a rail of clothes. And they cost less than 9.00
UK!

Even better: I got them from the Shopfittings shop in exchange for some
bits of excess rail & stuff that I ended up not using in my shop.

When full shop dummies cost 200+ these things are making me very happy!

Now to put on the last few price tags, hang up some more display stock,
hoover up & open my shop to the public!

Lucy (note to self: take blue wig for dummy & champagne!)

I went shopping by accident, on the way betwen getting my hair cut (for the
first time in months!) to work (very busy so i'm working on the weekend...
:-(
I got a couple of cute little black jumpers from a charity shop; one is
thick rough-ish chenille-y stuff, long sleeves, rolled neck, and fairly
shirt, but very snuggly, and the other is a thinner knit, with a shallow
v-neck, long sleeves, and also reasonably short though not cropped. I have
such a thing about cute knitwear, and they were only £2.50 each, so I'm
pleased.
I then utterly accidentally wet to the Body Shop. They have some new sets of
eye glimmer cubes (or somethign), which are box sets of 4 solid glimmer-y
colours which are almost like small cubes of pavement chalk or something,
but in really pretty colours; they have two sets that are very warm, bronzey
colours, and another which is much cooler, which is the one I got. The
colours are a dark aubergine-y purple, a fairly bright but quite warm pink,
a coppery colour, and a pale gold-y green; they're all colours I really
like, and will go extremely well with other stuff that i already have. I
also got a single eyeshadow in a matte off-white, because although I have
lots of nearly-white eyeshadow, I didn't have any matte stuff. I also got
brave; a while ago there was a discussion here about blusher, and it got me
thinking. I've never owned or used blusher (well, except for one which I use
as an eyeshadow), but I've been yearnign for it somewhat recently, so I took
the plunge. The Body shop have a pale pink, which is very subtle and won't
make me look orange or 80's, but apparently it's being featured in Vogue
(UK) next month as _the_ blusher to have. So it must be good, right? The
nice makeup girl showed me how to apply it to avoid the '80s stripey look or
the toy soldier look, and I'm going to experiment some more at home.
The Body Shop currently have an offer on where, if you spend £20 or more,
you can buy a makeup brush carrier, with three brushes, for a fiver; it's
usually worth £30 altogether. Since I needed a blusher brush to go with my
new blusher, and I really like the Body Shop's brushes, i figured it was
worthwhile, so i got that too. It's a canvas roll, with little pocket-y
things to hold 11 brushes of various sizes, and it comes with the big
blusher/powder brush (usually £12), and eyeshadow/blending brush (usually
£8- £10, I think), and a finer brush for eyeshadow/liner or lipstick
(usually about £8, I think). The roll closes with velcro and then ties shut,
and will help prevent me losing my brushes, hopefully!

You go,girl.
I wore a white under foundation base today and was really pleased with

Ok,its not clothes but Im stoked so you're all going to hear about it
LOL

My SO and I went to Ikea as we are desperately in need of storage
space and organization stuff for our bedroom.

Have I mentioned that I love Ikea? hehe

We went to what is the biggest Ikea store in the world and spent 5
hours (yes, five hours!) shopping. We even stopped to refule at the
lovely "fika" (coffee) bar on the third floor.

We bought:

2 spotlights
2 tic-tac-toe grid like shelves (Robin shelves for those of you who
are Ikea lovers like me)
1 floor to ceiling Billy corner bookshelf in gunmetal grey
1 floor to celing Billy 60cm wide booshelf, also in gunmetal grey
3 CD holder inserts for the Billy bookshelves we already have
various bits and bobs from the "bins of lovelyness" they place around
the store.
A Benjamin stool (hehe stool!) that we use as a nightstand

We need to go back again soon because we forgot some stuff, but I had
an awesome time.

Our room is a dark ultra blue (color wash wallpaper effect!) with
laquered pine baseboards and moldings, and a parquette floor.

Im so pleased! :D

Most importatnly I found some FAB boxes for storing makeup/hair etc.
Black gortex-like material that zip shut but are collapsable and the
bottom is held on with VELCRO! *joy* I bough 3 of them now, but Im
going back for more! They're black! :D

So, um thats what I bought. :)

They're lovely; I had a play with them yesterday, not not only are the
colours lovely on teir own, but you can also use them as a hughlighter; I
didn't use the dark purple one, but just used a big soft blusher/powder
brush over the other three, and dusted it over cheeks and temples, and it
just adds a really pretty shimmer, quite like the limited edition glo-balls
(or whatever they were called) that Chanel were doing recently, only much
much cheaper (£10 for the four bloks, which are fairly big, rather than
about £22 for the balls, which are small, and creamy, which makes me think
they won't last well).

Yep, I'm pleased with the blusher, I think it just makes me looka little
softer and healthier, without being obvious. The shade os 01, "rose bonbon",
and is pale enough to suit even a very white complexion.

At Wal-Mart, of all places, I picked up a "snowbunny" (so the label said)
hoodie: lightweight black polar fleece with black faux fur trim on the hood and
cuffs, and black faux fur pompons on the hood tie-ends. And the zipper pull
has three little white rhinestones on it. The faux fur is not very fluffy,
it's a bit on the hairy side, but it looks right with the style. Dang it, I
couldn't resist. Fifteen bucks' worth of irresistability.

Ahhh! I am so getting myself to Walmart =)

what I bought yesterday...

at Nordstrom, preordered the MAC holiday eye palette and holiday face
palette. also bought a pair of dark mocha brown velvety pants, but they're
being hemmed.

at Macy's, the most ugly and fabulous faded denim miniskirt with several
tiers of ruffles. originally $58, 50% off that, then an additional 25% off,
and I had a 10% off coupon. it's very j-rock looking to me...it rules.
i'll probably wear it with brightly colored opaque tights underneath black
fishnets, and mary janes. dunno what sort of top, probably just something
black.

at TJ Maxx, 2 pairs of black fishnets cause mine got a snag. got knee-highs
and full tights.

also at Regis salon in the mall I got a grrreat brow wax.

What brand is this? I remember seeing a mini skirt like this at Macy's
and wanting it. I will head over to Macy' s if it is marked down that

Yesterday I bought:

-Cosmo
-paper towels

And in the mail I got in a few ebay wins:
-black corset cut heart applique tank
-yak pak messenger bag
-furry hello kitty purse

That reminds me, go to Dorothy Perkins! I saw a jacket in the sale in DP in
Oxford yesterday which you should get; Double-breasted, black with silver
buttons, epaulets, very cute and sort of vintage/military-looking, ish. They
also have some gorgeous black knee-high boots with embroidery up the
sides...

I bought some new pyjama bottoms (well, thermal long johns, actually) and
some rose-scented shower gel.
Speaking of shower gel, apparently the Body Shop have brought back their
vanilla range!
Hurrah!

I found the black shiny Edwardian skirt at Target today (still at 50% off).
They only had two left--one was in the size above mine but it still fits, it
just hangs lower. I also got a very similar, shorter sheer layered one (they
have a ton of those left at my store).

Also got for the beasts two bags of Tidy Cats Crystals Blend litter (*my*
fave for them to use) and a huge bag of Friskies (it's all my one cat who's
had serious liver problems in the past will eat, so it's what they get).

I looked for shelving and a footstool/bench for the bathroom but must have
looked in the wrong areas because I couldn't find anything.
