You know how sometimes you are just having a blah day and even though nothing
is going really wrong, nothing is going right either. That's how I was feeling
today until as I drove home from work I saw this girl walking with the coolest
hair. It was truly flouresent yellow/green. It made me really want to have
short flouresent green hair even though it wouldn't look good on me but darn
it, it was so pretty on her. But It did make my day so much better.

So how often does this happen to you guys?

Not so much the whole blah day thing, but I used to know this girl with
shoulder length hair that started dark blue on top and slowly changed to dark
purple. It was professionally done ofcourse, and it looked ab fab. I wanted her
hair so bad, if I had the money I'd have done it in a heart beat....still
lacking in money though.....

The other day an absolutely gorgeous woman came into our shop and
completely made my day although I didn't speak/interact with her in
any way. Just seeing her improved the day.

She was a black woman, dark skinned, and had several delicate facial
piercings in silver (labret, nose, lip, brow) which looked beautiful
against her bitter-chocolate face. Her hair was amazing: butt-length
silky extensions in firey orange-red, acid green, canary yellow and
royal blue, all tumbled together in a way that reminded me of tie-dye.
I was so cheered up I stopped slouching for a full ten minutes.

I usually feel this way when I see someone with incredible personal
style, actually. Happens every two weeks or so. I always think about
posting them here, but never did. Thanks for this thread. :)

darker", which made me giggle for several minutes... :-)

All the time LOL

I think the best was when I saw a girl walking out of the grocery
store who was wearing a pair of boots identical to a pair that I have,
and pretty much wearing the same style of clothes I do. And she looked
very cool LOL so I was feeling mighty good about myself.

Its fun to see. I love seeing people with "unnatural" haircolour. Just
ads a certain degree of "rainbow" to my day.

I saw this black girl at the museum a few weeks ago, her hair was amazing. I
guess it was quite simple but amazingly cute. It was pink with bright purple
streaks, It looked like candy, I'm sure a lot of people have had this done
before but it just looked amazing on her.

Wow people acturally have pink poodles??? I always thought that was just a
rumor, since I've never acturally seen one. Where does one go to have their
poodle dyed pink? I'd think it would be conciderd a form of abuse or somthing.
I don't think I my self would do it to any pet of mine, because I don't think
it would be very pleasent for them, but it sounds oh so cute!!!!!

Well, there are animal beauty parlours, I assume they'd do it!
My guess is that as long as the dye is vegetable-based (like food colouring
or something), and non-irritant, and doesn't attract pests (don't dye your
pets with kool-aid!), most dogs probably don't really care what colour they
are. I'd certainly rather see pink poodles than dobermans with cropped ears
and docked tails.

Agreed!

I dont know if I would have the paitience to dye a whole dog tho lol
especially with something like Manic Panic or other veggies dyes which
will get all over EVERYTHING! *picturing it*

I have been known to paint the cats claws neon pink tho. Shes all
black so it looks mighty cute! we've been clipping her claws ourselves
since she was a baby so she just sits there purring while we give her
a manicure lol

much rub-off you'd see on carpeting, furniture and clothes, though.

A couple of years ago, I combed undiluted orange food coloring through the
white sections of my Border Collie puppy's fur for Halloween (she went as a
jack-o-pupkin). Bad idea, that. I shampooed and shampooed her trying to get
the orange out, and her white parts looked like dingey dentures for weeks.

The potential problem with it smelling good is that it might attract wasps,
bees, flies, etc. It also might encourage the dog itself to bite at its own
fur, which might not be a good plan. Also, anything perfumed or scented runs
the risk of setting off an allergic reaction in animals.

Hmm. Maybe. But haven't you ever smelled a dog fresh from the groomer? The

about bubblegum?). And I've yet to see a freshly groomed pup draw flies, or
attempt to eat his own coiffure. As to the allergy thing, no doubt there are
some dogs you have to be very careful with. But it's no more common in dogs
than it is in people.

I did the tip of my cat's tail burgundy with Manic Panic.
She got her tail in it to begin with, so I just added some
and rinsed it out a while later. She has pale grey fluffy
fur; it looked really cute. But I wouldn't do a whole cat.

And *please* don't dye cats. I once dyed the white shirt-front on a
black cat green with food colouring, & he just wouldn't stop washing,
presumably horrified that his whites were so dirty!

I *did* once dye a guinea-pig successfully, by making the quiff of white
hair on the top of his head a pretty colour using beetroot juice. Came
out OK, too...

Good grief, really? *heh* To be fair, my parent's dog liked nothing better
than to roll in some nice fresh dung, and that never seemed to cause her any
problems with flies (although we generally tried to hose her down ASAP!)

Fair 'nuff; I just remember there being a big deal a while back over a
product called "Shake'n'Vac", which you were supposed to sprinkle on your
carpet and then vacuum up, to get rid of bad smells, including pet smells.
Apparently a large number of cats and dogs suffered quite nasty reactions to
it, and I think it was withdrawn, at least temporarily, all of which would
make me a bit cautious about using anything perfumed on a pet!
Still, I guess a professional pet grooming place would have anti-allergenic
stuff.

~my sister dyed her dogs hair to match her own once (or did she dye her
hair to look like her dogs? i dont remember) anyhow, she had a
cocker/springer spaniel mix, and it had a rusty brown to red to golden
mix of colours on her . my sister had black hair, which she stripped so
it was orangy/red with some remnant black, and then she did her bangs
blue. (it looked good for some reason) so, she use'd some of the blue on
the top of her dog's head ......they matched exactly. it was funny when
she took her for walks though :) this was my sisters uber-punk stage
(jeeeze that was almost 10 years ago already . i'm feeling old!) and
she'd walk the dog wearing 20-eye steal toe ox-blood Docs and her and
the dog had matching spikey collars. :) as well as matching hair.

Ok, maybe it is just me but would LOVE to see this. It just seems too cute. I
once accidentally dyed a spot on my cats head because she was rubbing against
my legs as I was putting bright red dye in my hair. She looked kinda cute with
a couple red polka dots on her head.

My mother hated my cat so she dyed it, I was away on business and used to
come home to a different colour cat each week. She used veggie dye but I
nearly "died" (pardon the pun) when I came home once and the cat was red on
the bottom and blue on the top..I told her the cat already had a complex and
I wished she would have left it alone..She also used to write KAT on it's
forehead with a paintbrush and food dye she said it was so it knew what it
was......
