I'm surprised nobody's picked this up yet, or maybe it has and i'm just out of
it :P
Anyhoo, I'm just wondering what everyone's going to be for Hallowe'en. I've
seen lots of posts on a few people's really cool-sounding outfits and it's
making me extremely jealous, i have to admit. I'll be taking the lame (to me)
way out: I'll be buying something ready-made this year. I have been
over-stressed lately, and much of my time lately has been dedicated to finding
a new job and not the perfect costume. But I have found something that seems
pretty high on the wow-factor at any rate.
I will be wearing:
~Scott McClintock(sp?) strapless evening gown, gorgeous shimmery
copper/bronze/gold leopard print, stretchy and sheer over sheer black. Has a
matching wrap. $158!! *ouch* but luckily the only thing i have to buy. i'll
post pix later.
~strappy heeled sandals, spray painted to match.
~Gold slave-style necklace, sorta filigree style with cats on it, and matching
earrings.
~ponyfalls made into buns to look like "ears", then wrapped in gold wire.
for makeup i'll have on:
~theatrical latex cat nose, held on with spirit gum
~mac cream shadow in gold
~mac pigment (gold, but i don't know the exact color)
~high beam liquid, from benefit
~kitten powder, from benefit
~maybelline express finish nailpolish in goldlights
~various other stuff, like i said i'll post pics

*obviously* i'm gonna be a cat, of sorts. :D i really really wanted to do
miranda richardson's lace dress from the windmill scene in sleepy hollow, or a
black&white french courtesian dress thingy i had in mind, but alas-- NO TIME
:( ah well, maybe next year.

how 'bout you guys?

Ya know, one of these days, I'll have my act together, and plan a
Halloween costume months in advance. Right now, I'm concentrating on
working with stuff I already own.

I was thinking of being a blue fairy, since I have a blue wig and a
long bright blue lounging robe/coat thingy..but no good fairy wings.

I also have blue glitter devil horns from Fifi Mahoney, so then I
thought..Hmmmmm...a blue devil? An evil blue fairy creature?

I also have an unused pair of black mesh batwings. I'm contemplating
painting them with the same blue paint I used to paint my boots..not
sure how that will work out, but if it doesn't, I can always run to the
costume shop at the last minute.

I'm going to guavaween in Tampa this weekend and since it's such a HUGE
crowd and I don't want my finery ruined, I don't wear any of my really
good costumes...
But.. this year.. I'm doing early '80's Adam Ant: leather pants, white
ruffle shirt, waistcoat vest of gold and black silk brocade, bows and
ribbons in my hair, black and gold tricorne hat, thigh high black boots
and of course, the signature face paint!

Okay, not to sound like I'm asking for sympathy, cuz I really don't
give a shit, but I have no costume -- I don't have anywhere to go.
I haven't been invited to any parties and I don't enjoy the club.
I'm not pagan or Catholic, but I'm usually more into the original All
Souls' Night meaning, rather than feeling compelled to follow the
current convention. Maybe it's because last year on Halloween,
my beloved, kickass grandmother joined the spirit world.

*shrug*

I will give candy if I get any trick or treaters, and wear kitty ears
and my normal gothy getup.

Um.. that's it. Halloween may be my favorite holiday, but this year
it's really no big deal. Maybe next year I'll have some reason to
care. eh.

What about using blue glitter glue to paint the wings?

I'm pretty much in the same boat, but for different reasons.
(Not looking for sympathy either)
The S.O. and I were originally going to go to NO for Halloween with a huge
group of friends, but right after we made the plans, his mom called to say
she'd bought a plane ticket to come visit this coming weekend. Of course,
it's non-refundable. Argh. He said he didn't mind if I went without him,
but well, we've been dating for over 2 years (and living together for only
slightly less) and I still haven't met his mom. How big of an asshole
would I look if I took off the weekend she comes to visit.
So I'll be entertaining his mom while all the parties are happening. I'd
get candy for the trick-or-treaters, but we live on the second floor of a
three-flat, so...
I'll probably just end up being an ircing drunk for Halloween night. :D

Odd, I'm also being blue for halloween. Blue cyber grrl. I have royal
blue wave switch, blue braids and blue goggles from Ragdoll. Blue ankle
boots or knee high boots from my closet. I'm planning on black tights, a
black skirt, but I have no idea what to do for my top. Maybe a blue or
silver leotard with a faux military cropped jacket? Something more
cybery would be better though.

You can also use spray paint or that spray hair dye on mesh. Or, spray
with glue (or paint with diluted elmers) and sprinkle glitter everywhere.

Anyway, going pretty much as myself for it all, with the exception of
TG, Halloween Fetish theme, first TG so I'm nnnooooivous.

Friend suggested going as a Bondage Fairy, so that's what I'll be,

-Black rubber Sacred Heart bra with glowing bugs and flowers
-Thai style pants that are various shades of neon green
-Pennangalan Simply Lifts
-Mad Fairy style (is there such thinG???) makeup
-Bondage wings which I'm currently making out of crazy wires and bits
and pieces, I hope I don't take someone's eye out with them as they are
looking crazy ferocious at the moment.
-Ragdolly silky black and neon green falls a la Sere-style ;)

I think I need to run out and get some more glowy bugs to stick about
in my hair! So hopefully it all turns out somewhat, pics to follow
after Friddddday

Hm - I am considering doing my first Torture Garden myself - Sadly I don't
really know what to do for a costume. I hadn't realised it was themed, so
my planned costume (which is a 2000AD Judge, based around a PVC catsuit) is
not going to fit in well with all the Fairies and witches, etc
I have zero money to spend on a different costume, and all I have in the
way of stuff I could wear to TG is my circuitboard-print corset...
Looks like I might not be able to go after all :/

Yes you read that right. I was inspired by the new ads for the "lucky
you" perfume and decided to go with it. my outfit is as such:

from head down:
50's style updo
black and white polk a dot scarf tied around neck
white smocked cropped tank under,
white short sleeved button up shirt, tied at navel
black pvc capri pants, cut off just below knee, with pvc bows at the
top of the knee slits
black wedges with pvc top and small bow over toes

makeup will be:
pale face
highly arched brows
white shimmery eyeshadow
black liquid eyeliner
false eyelashes
red lipstick
red nails!!

Yay. I can't wait til friday and saturday :) Parties on Friday and
the bar on saturday

I think that the Judge costume is a great idea and you should wear it
whenever you get the chance. most people will probably applaud your
originality and give you mad snaps for not dressing like everyone else.

I have not had time to do a new costume for Halloween- but I am
happily on schedule with my Halloween, and now post-halloween work.

I will be wearing my Cyber Geisha outfit that has only been seen at
C6, but this time wih my own hair rather than the marvelous wig from
Tartblossom. I will be taking the nifty pieces from the wig and just
doing it with my own (long red) hair. It is just too tempting to do
something really big with my own hair. I wear it up so much of the
time...

For Halloween day I am thinking of dressing as Jilli :-)
***providing she doesn't mind, of course***
Gothic Miss Manners:
I am thinking of doing my own black victorian look, but if I feel
particularly inspired, I can wear my black wig, and a big victorian
hat, and cameo. I will of course, be the only one who will think this
is particularly cool, being that I am in kansas and all....

I had been thinking to do the look in color but not all black, but I
find I have trouble finding non black or red items in my closet. No
white ruffly blouses to be found...

But, I will have to be working, and big skirts get totally trashed in
the wheels of my sewing chairs. And, wigs are hot, and rather
pointless if I am just sitting in my office.

Or, I will wear my old Genie (sp?) costume.

It is all green and ivory, with a fitted jacket with many frogs, a
paneled hem with tassles, poofy silk pants and patchwork shoes with
curled points and bells. It is appealing because of the miles long
green velvet sash with burgundy trim and many tassles on the ends.
THis is all topped off by a metallic green brocade fez (also made by
me) and veil with medallion applique. I had forgotten all about the
costume till lately, and if I can find it, I have only worn it once,
and it is already made and complete.

As for what I had wanted to do, the Alice in Wonderland Red Queen
paneled Geisha outfit will just have to wait :-)

I'm not sure. Someone reckoned that even if people didn't know what a Judge
was, they'd approve if it was a home-made outfit that I thought I looked
kinky in. This disturbs me - I never want to appear even vaguely sexual, to
anyone.
So maybe going to a fetish club isn't the best idea for me :>

mew.. Oh Kathryn! It is Halloween Fetish theme, but on the flyer, it
just gives ideas for costumes, 'horny devils, etc etc but also list
regular Fetish Wear, Cyber, Drag, Theatrical and what not. A 2000AD
Jduge sounds madly cool, and also a costume!

You should be more then fine with the outfit you described above, it
sounds fab00! *drag* Oh do come! That was my problem as well, being
quite skint at the moment and for the last 2 weeks lacking in proper
housing so I had my parents mail me some clothes from Canada that are
hiding in my closet </geek>

But please do go chickita! You might get to see [1]old men in diapers
and d00ds that look like they should be in the government or your old
headmaster (prolly are) wandering about with little leather penis
sheaths on and nothing else, and hey baby that certainly is worth it's
gold in entertainment ;)

Mind you if you do end up going, you might have some odd Canadian bird
coming up to you and going "Uhm....urm, uhm hi, I'm like Jamie
uhm...urm I post as, uhh serenova, on agf?" and then embarassedly
scurry away. ;)

[1] First Fetish anything I went to in Toronto, the famed DiaperMen

the men in little ickle itty leather penis sheaths - it's funny how
when your trying to get by somewhere in a crowded room how they
suddenly seem to be all around you and you have to squeeze past.

I am still debating what I'll do. An emergency trip this past weekend sucked
down all the funds I would have used to complete my costume - and I mean
everything, as I'm down to $1 until I get paid November 3, and I plan to use
that $1 for enough caffeine to keep me awake through my overtime today and
tomorrow.

I'm not going out this weekend. I have nowhere specific to go, and no one
specific to go with, so I'll just do my laundry. :( I'm kind of bummed, and
I don't really have the energy to get creative with stuff I have around here.

As for the day itself, I have some options. I work for an extremely
conservative place, so I'm thinking maybe I should just come in as I really
like to dress and tell everyone I'm their worst nightmare. Or, I could dig
up my frumpier clothes, do wacked out makeup, and be a dead secretary.

I made my own falls (plain black), but now that I don't have the time/cash to
put together an anime costume, a dead cheerleader costume, etc. etc. etc. I
don't know if I'll wear them at all outside of Halloween ideas. They're not
really me.

Someone at work is going to be Christopher Walken for the day. He does a
very good impression, and is going to slick his hair, wear a suit, and wander
around making irrelevant comments as Christopher Walken. That's going to be
fun.

I must have some sort of magic power that involves not getting my big
skirts caught in the wheels of my office chair. I have no idea how I
manage it, but I've never had a problem.

For Halloween, I am dressing up as the Faery Godmother of the Unseelie
Court. Big black skirt, black chemise, black 18th century-style corset,
pale makeup, black glittery leaf garland twined in my hair, and black
sparkly chiffon batty-faery wings.

-Jilli, who will use her costume as an excuse to throw glitter on her
co-workers that day.

I'd vote for spray paint or hair dye. Last year, a friend and I made
beaucoup fairy dresses, sprayed them with spray adhesive, and sprinkled
fine glitter on them. The glitter shed like mad, got _everywhere_, and
stayed for months. I was scraping glitter off my face during
Thanksgiving. The adhesive may hold it a little better than nothing,
but not much. Maybe results would be better with more chunky glitter?
I don't know. But I'm thinking metallic blue spray paint would be much
less messy, and very pretty. :)

I'm going to be Christina Aguilera.

Red backless shirt with those strange ties that keep trying to come
loose
Red pants which I intend to buy later today
Black platform ankle boots
Blond wig
Baby blue manicure I'm getting later today
Lots of black eyeliner and mascara
More eyeshadow than I normally wear
Light colored (Dazzle) Liquid Shine
Some kind of jewels pasted on my face
Big gold hoop earrings
A vacant expression
A friend dressed as Britney Spears.

For the voodoo themed fetish party on Friday, I'll be a dead Christina
Aguilera. :)

I do give a shit, but I'm not asking for sympathy, either.

I have very few friends here, and the people who are my friends... well,
they're more good acquaintances at the moment. It takes me longer to call
someone a friend. To my knowledge, none of them are having parties, so no
go for me. I don't think there even is a clubnight.

I wish I was in the States for Halloween. It's my favourite holiday with
the exception of my birthday (I know that's not a real holiday, but it is
to *me*), and it's not really celebrated here.

Trick or treating isn't very popular here, and I live in a third floor
flat in a security-controlled building (secure entry, plus locking landing
door) so I doubt I'll get anyone at all.

I'll probably buy a bag of candy and eat it alone while on IRC, or veg out
in front of the TV with Aidan like I normally do.

After a few hours of desperate costume-hunting I've decided to go as a
ladybug. I came to this decision earlier this evening after purchasing
a bright red petticoat, (I've wanted one for so long!) I'll be tacking
down a bunch of black spots onto the red fabric, and I've painted red
spots on a pair of red opaque tights. I'll have shiny black arms thanks
to my PVC opera gloves, and I'll be wearing one of my PVC tops (haven't
decided which one yet) to match the gloves. I'm making a pair of
antennae out of a pair of springs which I've painted black, and I'm
attaching little painted styrofoam balls to the tips.

I'm going as Princess Mononoke. Unfortunately, I couldn't get pure white
monster fur for her cape, so I don't know how good it'll look, but I think
if I make up for it with the rest of the costume I'll be okay, since I'm not
going to be in any costume contests or anything.

I'm not sure what to call it. :)

I've made a 1770's Polonaise style gown entirely from black cotton with
narrow white stripes. It has a matching underskirt and boxpleated trim of
the same material around the neckline and sleeve edges. The sleeves are
elbow length and darted to accomodate the curve of my elbows. I lined the
bodice of the gown with some black linen I had leftover from some
renaissance shirts, and the sleeves are lined with black cotton leftover
from my project for the quilt squares swap. The bodice has a squared
neckline and a false stomacher front with a centre front fastening done
with hook and eye tape. I made the bodice unboned as I will be wearing it
over an 18th century repro heavily boned corset from another outfit I made
a few years ago. There are tie up tapes in the skirt of the gown to
create the pulled up polonaise effect. I placed the tapes on the side
back seams in the skirt of the gown. I have pocket paniers of white
quilted cotton with steel boning to create the proper silhouette for the
skirts.

I will be wearing this to a few events, so I will be varying it slightly
for comfort's sake. Tonight (friday) I will wear it with a black chemise
and stripey leggings and granny boots. Make-up will be simple and I will
wear no wig tonight, as this is just a small dinnerparty with friends.

For Saturday night (28th October) I will wear it with white stockings,
white chemise, and black leather repro 18th century shoes with silver
buckles. I will be doing full 18th century style make-up and wearing a
white powdered look wig. Hopefully I will have a tricorne hat trimmed
with the stripey material, and I will have my walking stick as a necessary
accessory. I will be wearing this to the Hallowe'en event at Catacomb (in
Washington DC) and then to work that same night (damn this schedule to
hell). Therefore, I will bring along comfy shoes and socks to change
into. I love my job, I loathe my manager and his whacked out sense for
schedules.

So, what to call this outfit besides "Dizzy!" ?

Well...I am going as a ragdoll puppet...complete with puppetmaster. :)

Outfit:
+burgundy "wench" style top in cotton with gathered bust and gathered,
short, poofy sleeves *
+short patchwork skirt in burgundy and eggplant colours * (as mentioned
on the "Waistband on Patchwork Skirt...?" thread)
+black leather waist corset (Stormy Leather)
+fishnets
+black, tall, leather & buckled DM's

Hair:
+barely shoulder-length black and burgundy hair up in half-pigtails
with tendrils...all in heartbreaker curls

Make-up:
+big eggplant-themed (the colour, not the plant. ;P) eyes with black
liquid liner and big doll-like fake lashes
+bright, burgundy, pouty doll lips
+"stitching" delicately drawn on arms and face with black liquid liner

Acessories:
+two 1x3's made into a puppeteer's cross, with burgundy ribbon tied
from the cross to bows at my wrists...hubby will carry this! * :)
+I don't know what jewelry...suggestions are welcome!

* = I made myself

All in all, this costume will cost about $10. Yea!

I based the idea around the skirt I made, since I want to wear it so
bad...it was either a ragdoll, a ragdoll puppet with puppetmaster...or,
if hubby didn't want to comply, I would have bought thin rope for the
puppet's strings, cut and unraveled the rope a bit, tied to to my
wrists and went as a ragdoll puppet that has come alive and broken
loose from the puppeteer's cross...

...or a pirate wench, which sounded too boring.

If anyone has any ideas to add, esp. with hubby's outfit, jewelry or
other bits, I would appreciate them! :)

Hoorah for Halloween! I haven't dressed up for the holiday in ages!!

I'll be wearing my comedy "Pope of Satan" outfit:

Purple jeans & purple silk shirt, mostly hidden by -

An enormous, red & maroon papal robe, the front & back covered with
pictures of Catholic iconography in fake stained glass with gilt frames,
topped off with -

Red facepaint, black eyeliner & latex stick-on horns.

Judge costume!@?!@#?!@#?!@#

Did you do it? Oh my god. I need a judge costume.

But...anyway, it'd be better doing it there rather then over here, where about
4 people know who Judge Dredd is...and remember from the movie. Ack.

Those bastards will have to pry my cold dead fingers off my Judge Dredd
pinball machine.

Of course it's a great idea!

ObGothFash: nothing. I have done/bought nothing interesting recently. That
is what comes of working on nights. I have my New Rocks sitting next to the
computer, though. :/
