In the local Diechman shoes, I found a spot on copy of lo and hi tops,
for £9.99GBP, just missing the badges. So I bought both. Same waffle
sole, same slightly concave cushioning to the sole, nice thick canvas.
Whether the glue holds is another matter. But for the ladies of the
group, I did notice while passing, they had womens ones with a couple
inches high stilleto heel in the same white rubber, black canvas.
As I walked out with my purchases, I spotted a "Cheap watch" stand of
the type that infests shopping precincts and malls everywhere, and
hanging from the rail was a stunning faked antique bronze pocketwatch on
a fob. Decorative back, with a pavillion scene on the front, and Roman
numeraled face inside. And best bit is only £5. So I bought that to
complete my Victorian gentleman costume for the Halloween Archery shoot,
meal after, then pub crawl arround the town centre to all the bars
offering Halloween prizes (Costume will be black tight jeans with
NewRocks, frilled shirt, Black suede Waistcoat with Pocketwatch, Velvet
covered leather top hat, and for the evening on the town, my very heavy
caped leather Aussie outback coat to add that Van Helsing/Jack the
Ripper look). Eyeliner and Blood red Barry M lippy. Sadly I won't be as
pale as I like as I'm jetting of to Egypt for a week on Thursday and
even now it will still be hot, and I don't get on to well with
foundation in sweaty rock clubs and biker pubs.
Sorry for any spelling and typo errors, I haven't got my glasses on as I
have a plastic bag on my head.
Stop it, stop being smutty, I'm dying my hair Scharzkopf Live XXL Cosmic
Blue for my hols. Only 30 minutes of time left, I normally leave dye on
at least 15-20 minutes more than the pack says to get it to take deeply,
although I normally use Schwarzkopf Poly colour Tint Raven or Natural
Black. Felt like a change this time.

On the shoe subject I normally don't touch the knockoffs either, but
they are so very much like the original, same waffle sole, a shaped heel
cup which a lot of the copies don't have, and the same pinch in the same
places when new until I adjust the laces then stretch them a bit. And
for what they cost compared to what the real all-stars are costing now,
I could replace both pairs twice, and still have them cost less than the
originals. The price/wage balance will shift in a year or two then I can
get my hands on the real ones later.
Sometimes shoe companies make run-overs that are almost exactly the
same without the name brand tags and price. This may be a pair. The
costume sounds like it will be gorgeous.
As for a holiday in Egypt, I'm jealous! You had better have a
fantastic time! I have always wanted to go to Egypt to see the
pyramids and the museums. Take lots of pictures! If you don't want
to tan, go to your local chemist and ask what type of sunscreen would
be best. Better sunscreen is available in Europe than what we can get
in America. Have a lovely time!

Sadly not doing all the touristy trips this time, different areas need
different internal tourist visas, while Sinai is just a free passport
stamp, so will be staying in resort. Might as well as I'm going all
inclusive, so lots of time to eat, drink, be merry and get some downtime
reading trashy paperbacks by the pool.
It was meant to be a couples holiday, but seeing as we are in the
process of splitting up, she thinks it will be too weird, and I'm
travelling alone.

Well, I am glad you are going on holiday. You need it. Take
time to relax, read those trashy paperbacks and get your head
together. You could talk to the consulate to see if they could help
you get the tourist visas if you wanted, but I'm not sure if you do or
not.
I often feel a duty to go to see the museums, castles, etc., when
what I really want is a massage followed by a pot of tea and cookies
for dinner. Sometimes I have trouble letting myself be "selfish."
Don't make that mistake. Your time might be better spent in self-
indulgence. I bet that resort has a spa. Have fun!

=====================
You can cure the museum compulsion by finding a job right on a street where
there are too many museums. Like maybe right around the Smithsonian. Or a
street like the Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia, it ' s kind of a
diagonal and is really the center of the town,
There ' s a lot of underground walking area under the city and it ' s
probably like one stop away on the subway or a bus.
Both above and below ground walking is likely to take you by a bazillion
coffee shops and things for breakfast and dinner to deal with other needs
til you get there.
or actually on Rittenhouse Square,. I wouldn't' waste my time with a cab, or
a car, just put on good walking shoes
Wasn't bothered by it tbh. The Visa on entry is only $15US.

Most of the places of interest would have like Cairo/Luxor/Alexandria
would have required 1 day internal flight, or a 3 day bus journey out of
the week holiday for one big culture trip.
There was a Spa but I didn't take advantage, I was happy to sit by the
pool during the day, managed to read 2 Dean Koontz and 2 Karen Slaughter
novels, and spend the evening drinking local Vodka (Fineland and
Vatlandia) and coke with the few English couples there, the hotel was
about 80% (according to the staff) Russian occupied with the 10% Polish
and the remaining 10% mixed european, mainly British.

Your holiday sounds lovely! I would really like to go on a
holiday. I am so glad that you got to take some time for yourself. I
love to read and it is wonderful to be able to sit down with a book
without worrying about other responsibilities.

I might try to get a couple of cheap shorter last minute ones next year,
instead of one big one.
