It's PR bullshi*T! I bet Harald wishes everyday that his son had found a
much,much,much better woman to love.
And if Martha-Louise (who is already a disgrace to royalty. She is a tramp,
named in a divorce case for adultery and everything!!) marries Ari Behn (?) I
hope the Norwegian monarchy is abolished!
I respect royalty and monarchy too much to have people like these be a member
of it. It's bad enough Mette-Merit is now a Crown Princess (there is no justice
in the world) but if Ari becomes a royal too....Oh, Lord! Even though M-L is a
tramp she's still too good for Ari.
And Norway isn't the only royal family who needs to clean up its act. So do the
British royals and the Monaco "royals". For the most part the other royal
families seem to be "ok", Although the Belgian King's supposed illegitimate
daughter doesn't help matters.
I just hope that Britain's Prince William & Prince Harry, Sweden's Prince
Carl-Philip, Spain's Crown Prince Felipe, Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik,
Jordan's Prince Hashim & Crown Prince Hamzah and Luxembourg's Hereditary Grand
Duke Guillaume, Prince Felix, etc. DON'T marry women like Mette-Merit. I hope
they can do better, MUCH BETTER! Though at this point I'm not too sure about
Felipe and Frederik.
And I hope Princesses like Madeleine and Crown Princess Victoria don't turn
into sluts like Princess Martha-Louise and date guys like Ari Behn.

Waaaaaaiiiiiit! What's wrong with Martha Louise and who's this Ari Behn
guy? Yes, I'm nosy.

recently, or am I thinking of someone else?

Oh, but some will say; "she said she was sorry, so you should believe it and
accept it. Everyone else in Norway has accepted her, so you should too! She is
now trying to turn her life around"...and all the other nonsense-like if she
has much of a choice now!
Perhaps if she *really* changed she would supply the police with the names of
all the people who were dealing drugs to her, then try and see if they can be
prosecuted.
I agree with you 100%, I think it's wonderful to marry or date a commoner that
one loves, but not ones that partook in illegal activities or cohabit with
criminals. Wonder where one draws the line?
It makes you wonder about the times we live in and how things have changed so
rapidly.
Do you remember when Prince Andrew was involved with the love of his life, Koo
Stark? Remember how that ended? I wonder if they had met now, instead of then
(and he never married Fergie and Koo never married) if they would have married
or been allowed to live together?
Good post though!

Because they're Muslim, and NOT the Dodi Fayed kind of Muslim. One need only
look at Queen Noor and Queen Rania who are pillars of respectability in this
Islamic kingdom. I can't imagine either of Noor's sons even being SEEN with a
M-M sort of girl let alone seriously dating or marrying one.

Their father did - several times.

No, but I don't think just recognizing that some Muslim men do is the same
thing as endorsing their actions.

Actually, I was remarking on the inclusion of these two in the list of princes
the poster hopes don't marry a M-M sort of girl.
Again, I don't think there's much chance of that happening, primarily because
of the difference in societies and religions.
>^..^<
Well, in a country where killing a woman for "disgracing" her family is
considered to be a good thing to do, the standards are beyond belief.
Actually, it was his criticism of Noor that cost the former Crown Prince the
crown.
I think there is a middle ground that must be tread. A man who is King
should be strong enough to do as he pleases while not upsetting the populace
over much. Hussein seemed to know how to do that.
Loki
To be fair, Jordan's royal family have themselves come out in opposition to
such ritual killings.
Actually, Noor has a campaign to stop them.
I wasn't implying that the royal family endorsed them.
Loki
Indeed, Queen Noor has pointed out on many occasions that the discriminatory
practices against women are NOT Islamic and are not supported at all by any
Islamic writings or the writings or practices of Mohammed himself.

M-L was after all *not* married at the time -- *she* didn't cheet on

about Norwegain Princessess.

Don't worry, Ari won't become royal.
Norwegain Princesses marrying commenors has in the past lost their
HRHs and become (plain) "Princess XXXX Missus XXXX", and no title
is awarded the spouse.
HRH Maerta Louise would therefore become "Princess Maerta Louise
Missus Behn" (yuck!)

It would tell us Martha-Louise has no respect for marriage if she was
willing to have an affair with a man who was already married. She was
willing to have sex with a man who would lie and deceive his wife, without
caring what it would do to his family life. This man was a lying cheat and
she thought he was good enough to sleep with? That tells us something
about Martha-Louise.

In this case - because she was named in the divorce - I will cede your
point.
But in many cases, an affair does not denote deceit. There are many, many
marriages where it is known and allowed. CPB and her husband seem to have
been of this mindset.
There are others where the other partner simply "looks the other way" and
does not stand in the way, but does not actively seek affairs for
themselves. I'm thinking Hillary Clinton here.
The more money/power there is in the marriage the more likely this
situation is likely to happen.
My cousin - who is in sales - was told by his senior management that once he
is earning 250K per year or better, he can pretty much fool around as much
as he wants because wives don't leave that sort of earning power.

I hope that wife retains a good lawyer. Let's not forget that sexually
transmitted diseases can kill you, illegitimite children born of a liason
still have inheiritance rights which dillute the rights of the children born
into the marriage and that adultery can tear apart a marriage leaving
children devastated that home has been destroyed. Adultery is not a
victimless crime, and whether or not it is politically correct it is still
offensive to some of us.
-Martha

I didn't say it was victimless.
It's just that I tend to let other folks decide what marriage is to them and
keep my own version of it for myself - that is should I ever marry again.

Agree. I'm not as vocal about it in "real life" as I am online. If asked
my opinion I'll give it, but I don't offer it unless asked.

One less thing for everybody to worry about: In every state except for
Louisiana, it's possible to disinherit any child -- provided there is a valid will,
and the various children who are to be disinherited are specifically named.
It's a good idea to also name the children who will inherit. There is also no
rule that all one's children -- legitimate or otherwise -- must inherit equally.
You can divvy up the stuff according to need, preference, whatever.
In cases where there is no valid will, illegitimate children have inheritance
rights equal to those of legitimate children.
Furthermore most states (maybe all of them) will not recognize inheritance
rights if the paternity of a child has not been established before the
presumptive father's death. So nobody can turn up after the fact, claiming to
be the child of the decedent and demanding a share of the money.
As far as I know, it is not possible anywhere in the United States to disinherit
a wife, regardless of what the will may say. -- Q
I have always adored Queen Noor- to meshe is the model of respectability,
not from a oryalor aristocratic background, but the example ofwhat a nice
girlcan bring to a monarchy.
Indeed. She is the kind of person who, even if she had a questionable past,
most journalists would be ashamed to even try to sully.
>^..^<

If a man pays child support to a mistress for a child his wife knows nothing
about, that child will have a claim against the estate in some states. Most
states have closed the loopholes, but where there's a will (and an
inheiritance) there might be a way.

The references to the King's sisters, who lost their prefix HRH when
marrying commoners, are not relevant to the case of Princess Märtha
Louise. She is in the line of succession, something her aunts are not,
and it is most unlikely that she will loose her prefix when marrying
as long as the King has given his consent to it.

MY father remedied the above scenario by buying a separate life insurance
policy on himself with the other child as the beneficiary in lieu of allowing
her to benefit with an even share (even with my sister and me) of his estate.
>^..^<

I'm glad your interests were looked after. That is not always the case.
-Martha
==========
Actually, it wasn't to look after MY or my sister's interests; it was to look
after HER interests.
Our mother gets everything if he predeceases her, so potentially, this daughter
could benefit while my sister and I get nothing. Not that either of us WANT
anything.
>^..^<
Although, Queen Noor herself was born and raised in the USA, and only became a
Muslim at the time of her marriage to the late king. Her sons have been educated
in the west (prep school in Washington, DC followed by Sandhurst), so it would
be hard for their mother and King Abdullah (his mother a British-born convert to
Islam) to object if one of them chose to marry a western woman. Presumably, a
conversion to Islam would be obligatory. I agree with what Sacha and Ownedbycats
have said about it being unlikely that they would be permitted to get seriously
involved with a woman with a past like Crown Princess Mette-Marit's. The
Hashemite dynasty and the Jordanian state are too fragile for the luxury of that
sort of scandal. I imagine that the perennial of threat of civil and/or
international war, coupled with the knowledge that if one's dynasty is
overthrown it is not likely to be by referendum, can do a lot to focus the mind
of a young prince when his thoughts turn to romance...
