Some of you are acting all faux shocked and lamenting she died "so young".

Get real, people. She was 56, not 15, and MORBIDLY OBESE.

The shock is not that she died now, but that she didn't die sooner.

Gorging herself at all those parties, stuffing her face to the gills with rich, fatty, high
calorie foods, day in and day out, all alone in that "castle" eating herself to death.

And her husband, helping her shovel in all that food. He should be charged with
being accessory to a crime, aiding and abetting his wife's suicide.

So instead of feigning "shock" and "dismay" go and empty out your fridges and
stock them with fruits and vegetables, and use the "princess" as a model of what
NOT to follow, and how NOT to live your lives.

She would have wanted it that way.

So? We all know that her weight played a role in her death. We don't need
that pointed out to us as if we were stupid children and we don't need
whoever it is to give us a lesson on how to eat. Furthermore, could there
be anything right about the revolting insensitivity it shows towards the
Pink Princess's husband? Anyone can make a point without being cruel -- but
it didn't want to make a point; it just wanted to be horrible.

Well put. And perhaps what the original poster of this thread might
take into account is that sometimes incredible arrogance does people in

Absolutely.

Andy Kaufmann died of lung cancer; so did Dana Reeve.
Neither were smokers.

My Dad is 86. He quit smoking two years ago. He's in the
top 5% for his age, health-wise. His doctors are amazed
that he's not sick of *anything*.

Jim Fixx (the author of the books about running) led one of the
healthiest lifestyles possible, and keeled over of a heart attack.

Folks, we're SUPPOSED to die. Everyone is going to. You
can jam a lot of living into a short time, or stretch it out and
die of boredom.

Is he single? My grandma is turning 90 in August and is looking for a man.
;-) She's always had a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Her
eyesight and hearing aren't what they used to be, but her brain is sharp as
a tack and she is totally mobile, walking around everywhere. She is also
totally gorgeous -- she looks great! We say she should be an advertisement
for the alcohol and tobacco industries.

This coming from a person who just advocated the death of myself and Kathy

hope you are suffering and in pain from knowing she's gone. If only I could

It's not about length of life, it's about feeling good during the time you
have. Being morbidly obese doesn't feel good. Struggling to haul that extra
weight around doesn't feel good. Taking tons of meds to combat HBP or
diabetes doesn't feel good. Being in shape does.

Not that it's any of your business but PP suffered due to a severe medical
ailment. If you can't be bothered to find out what it was then you have no
business talking about the reason for her death. In the last few months I've
known people who died at 14, 16, 33, and 64. When it's your time, it's your
time and there's not a damn thing you can do about it. So "Live, Live, Live"
while you have the chance!

And being morbidly obese severely curtails one's ability to "live, live,

bit stupid. You know who sucks the marrow from life? Mountain climbers, big
wave surfers, extreme athletes.

The first thing is that it's way too soon after learning of PP's death
to begin the tsk-tsking about her weight. People are still in shock
and mourning. We had plenty of time to wait before bringing this
subject up.

Anybody who ever visited her site and looked at her photos knows that
she carried a lot of excess weight. And when I read yesterday that the
cause of her death was congestive heart failure, I knew immediately
that it was her weight that got her. I've had a couple of obese
friends who carried that kind of weight their whole lives end up dying
that way, and both in their late 50s.

But it doesn't diminish the fact that she had class, style, and wit.
And to suggest that one needs to be a mountain climber or other kind of
x-treme athlete to live a full life is ridiculous. She did what she
wanted and from all appearance was very happy.

You are grossly generalizing that every one that is "morbidly" obese have
HBP and/or diabetes, this is not always the case. I am not condoning this
condition of one's body, but it is truly annoying when people just lump
others together and slap a label on them.

The other thing that is annoying is that you all are basically slamming this
lady now that she has passed. It is quite crass and rude to besmirch the
dead. You should have besmirched the Princess while she was alive so she
could tell you to stick it up your ass. Of course, she would have said it
with a little more class.

You ignore all my points entirely. How conveinvent! You still didn't bother

you seriously? How dare you pontificate on someone you didn't even know! How
dare you tell us how she would want us to live or remember her. How dare you

Really? What is your time worth?

This post is a lot like the stuff we used to see every now and then by
a writer called "cattlovrr," who would start threads like this one when
a discussion got really maudlin.

In fact, it resembles a cattlovrr classic about Camryn Manheim from a
couple of years ago.

You could look it up.

Except that bad habits, e.g excess smoking, excess drinking, too many
drugs, eating to excess/poor diet, etc. *are* in the long run generally
going to reduce folks' quality of life and in the end doom them to a
shorter life....

Just check out some actuarial tables sometimes :-)

We (Australia) just lost a famous female everest climber down an abyss, and
nearly lost a male one too (at one point he was given up for dead) (he will
have significant injuries all over his body from the frostbite), in the last
30 days or so. Both younger than PP. And if extremes sports types don't die
young, frequently they suffer thru numerous surgeries and eventually nearly
all get horrible arthritis.

Generally people are confused by statistics which are pertinent to large
groups, when they believe it is appropriate to apply statistical theory to
one person's life experience. Sometimes, while stats are enormously helpful
to ie insur companies, they often have absolutely no relevance when applied
to a single human being. (A person with bias often tries to pass their bias
off as something other than what it is by quoting statistics. What they're
trying to hide of course, even from themselves perhaps, is a mean-spirited
prejudice.)

No. I'm attacking the people who immediately jumped to her defense and
claimed that her obesity was a result of her "living life". I didn't know
the woman, and don't really care about the woman. I do care about people
perpetuating a destructive lifestyle as admirable.

BTW, even IF the morbidly(more than 100 pounds overweight, which is the
correct term) obese avoid HBP and diabetes, they still have the struggle and
discomfort of carrying around the extra weight.

The fact she was the original founding member of the Carroll County
Humane Society says alot about her rich character to me. RIP young
lady. 56 is way too young to die. We all make choices in our lives
and at times we pay dearly for them. Sounds to me she was quite happy
with the choices she made and for that I say God Bless Her because she
is in Heaven right now. It's what I believe and to hell with anyone
that doesn't.

I didn't know this woman, but it is bad taste to dump on her now.
Certainly all of us can work on our personal challenges or issues. No
one is perfect. Despite what the American Constitution/Declaration of
Independence says,

we are not all created equal. Some of us are prone to things others
may not be.

Everyone in my family is diabetic, mostly due to inheritance. I, of
the 6 am not, but I have to tell you .

I work everyday to fight cravings, to exercise more, and to stay
healthy. It is a hard fight and not everyone would or could be
successful if they try. Some may not try.

I know several diabetics, one in my extended family who have just given
up. They don't care anymore. All they see, whether in reality or
"reality TV" is people doing whatever they want when it comes to food.

The real villain isn't Pink Princess' lack of self control, it's a
consumer based society/economy that only wants to make money and
doesn't care about anything other than that.

We are not all created equal . . . . .

but we should be treated equal, all things considered.

Actually NOT. Smokers also take those unfortunate enough to be around
them (second hand smoke, heard of that one?!?) Alcoholics who often
drive have ended many a good life and walked away free to take many more
with their selfishness. Drug abusers end up destroying the lives of
many people in their quest for their next high.
What an ugly, mean, lonely, sad, pathetic little troll to attack the
grief of those who've lost a witty, joyful, beautiful person, who yes,
did die to young at 56. Because the ability to spread joy and live and

All right, who cross-posted this imbecile to the fat acceptance
group?
Did Goose know PP in person? Are we privy to the amount of food PP
ate or didn't eat on a daily basis? Are we certain that PP practiced
"self-
abuse"? Speaking of quality of life, it appears from what people say
that
she gave a lot of herself to others and made the world a better place.
I never heard of Pink Princess until this thread, but from her
website
picture and the descriptions of her she appears to be a lovely lady
who
enjoyed life. My condolences to those who loved her.
FWIW, I've known people of much smaller sizes who died of heart
failure. It's an equal opportunity killer.

How do you know this? There are all kinds of things that give life quality
and it is never safe to assume you know where someone else lives. Some
people are blessed with good health and cursed with bad personalities. Some
people lead very meaningful lives but die young. Some people have riches
but no love and others have buckets of love but no money.
Some people enjoy extreme eating the way others enjoy extreme sports. (I
don't enjoy either of those things but have my own hobbies and vices.) You
can't walk in someone elses shoes.

Not necessarily. When Karen Carpenter died at age 33 of heart failure
secondary to anorexia, it seems to me that her death was greeted more
with horror and disbelief than with sympathy.

That said, I think it only fair that those who are left behind be given
a grace period before the clucking commences. Sometimes judgment really
does have to be tempered with mercy.

I agree. This same line of thinking is why George Clooney made me angry
with his comments at Charlton Heston.

I didn't know this woman who died, but she seemed loved and I feel
sorry for everyone who is feeling loss. My father is 52...and I think
of him as having tons and tons of time left and if he died it would be
way too young. I'm sorry for your loss.

I just can't comprehend how they can't be incredibly bored with

Magda, the reason there is such an outpouring of grief at the
Princess's passing is because she brought so much pleasure to us in
her postings. She was a wonderful writer, witty and inventive. While
she could hurl barbs better than anyone else online, they were safely
aimed at those so famous they would never bother to read the internet
or at those she was acquainted with enough to know that the recipient
would enjoy the give-and-take of a bit of a written slugfest.

The Princess was too kind to ever say anything that would ever hurt a
person's feelings no matter how deserved. She was a real lady.

Clearly she is a person beyond your understanding, so it is natural
that our grief would fail to touch you.

I've been on this froup for a year and I STILL can't decipher all the
sEKreT identities of the above froup (except for Brandy, she is a
"real" person and doesn't morph all over the place)...plus which Laura
Linger, etc. or whovever they are have taken this drama over to

I think of them as the homeless people along the information superhighway.
Lots of crazies, talking to themselves and/or screaming and blabbing
whatever and whoever walks by.

You can herd them up in shelters (killfiles) but it don't do no good.
They'll find a way to escape, because the want to be back on the street
babbling again.

Throw 'em a coin, spit on 'em or ignore 'em. It's all the same shit.

Is it true she died a virgin? I recall her, or someone else mentioning she never

And you know this for a fact how... I know someone that is and they have no

Maybe it's worth it for them. Maybe it's not that bad. Not everyone is the
same. I sure am not going to judge, nor am I going to equate being

And if everyone were offered a choice to be obese or close to their
