Art Garfunkel Charged With Having Pot

HURLEY, N.Y. - Art Garfunkel (news), part of the folk music duo Simon
and Garfunkel, was charged with marijuana possession after police
pulled his limousine over for speeding in upstate New York.

Garfunkel, 62, had a small amount of marijuana in his jacket pocket
when a state trooper stopped the limo Saturday afternoon in Hurley, 55
miles southwest of Albany, the Daily Freeman of Kingston reported.

The trooper smelled marijuana after approaching the vehicle, in which
Garfunkel was the lone passenger.

Garfunkel, of Manhattan, was scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 28
on the charge, which carries a possible $100 fine, or he could respond
by mail.

A representative for Legacy Recording, Garfunkel's New York-based
record label, did not immediately return a phone call Wednesday.

Garfunkel completed a U.S. concert tour with Paul Simon (news) last
fall, their first in 20 years. The duo, who have been inducted into
the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, produced a string of hits in the
1960s, including "The Sounds of Silence," "Mrs. Robinson," "Old
Friends" and "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)."

I don't really believe in drug usage but hell - This is like Dionne
Warwick - Over 60 year old stoners who have likely been smoking weed
since they were in their teens - especially when they are shuttled
around by drivers and aren't driving themselves - Should be given some
kind of a small slap and sent on their way. If he had been driving I
might think different.

Have fun Art and get yourself some kind of a carrying case that the
cops wont spot as easily as a bag of pot in your pocket.

Finally, it's cool to be a S&G fan! Had this only happened decades ago.

Any truth to the rumor the cop's first words were "Slow down, you move
too fast"?

Did S&G do "Feelin' Groovy"? I thought that was Strawberry Alarm Clock.

Well, the 'possible fine' is less than a speeding ticket. Sounds like small
slap to me.

That's all he'll get. Maximum punishment is something like a hundred
dollar fine. He'll pay more for the lawyer.

And Simon wrote "Feelin' Groovy" and eventually recorded it, but a
different group had a hit with it first. Don't know if it was
Strawberry Alarm Clock.

You don't know any middle-aged dope smokers? I know plenty. All of whom
have families and careers.

I don't know about you, but I am SO RELIEVED that a dangerous
crimminal like Art Garfunkel is off the streets! What a top notch job
the cops did here!

Can you believe it? LMFAO!

I know he just got a fine and realize he did break the law but come on
give me a break.
