RUSH AND MOLLOY....

Jon Bon Jovi gave his all for Doug Flutie last weekend. The rocker let the
Buffalo Bill use his new mansion in Middletown, N.J., for a benefit for
Flutie's autism foundation. The big-hearted Bon Jovi must be feeling flush
after selling his Rumson, N.J. spread for around $1.25 million — because he and
his band agreed to auction off two performances "at your barbecue, bar mitzvah
or wedding." Two guests paid $60,000 each for gigs.

More than $500,000 was raised at the bash, where single-again Matthew
McConaughey did his "EdTV" chicken dance with most of the ladies. Also on hand
were Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora (packing up their L.A. house this
week, so she can move to New York for "Spin City"), Chazz Palminteri, Jets
coach Bill Parcells, Sean Landeta, Phil Simms and single-again Tico Torres, who
came with Elizabeth Vargas.

This is from one of the Bon Jovi websites -- it has some good general gossip
content:

May 23, 1999

AN EVENING AT HIGH POINT

This past Saturday evening, JUNE 19th, JON and DOROTHEA BON JOVI hosted
the long-awaited party to benefit THE DOUG FLUTIE JR FOUNDATION FOR
AUTISM on the grounds of HIGH POINT, their new home in Red Bank, New
Jersey.

At 6:30 PM guests began arriving and were each personally greeted at the
front entrance by JON and DOROTHEA and DOUG and LAURIE FLUTIE. Guests
included RICHIE SAMBORA and HEATHER LOCKLEAR, DAVID BRYAN and TICO
TORRES (who was accompanied by TV newsjournalist ELIZABETH VARGAS), DAVE
"SNAKE" SABO, BOBBY SHRIVER, NY JETS Coaches BILL PARCELLS and BILL
BELICHICK, former NY GIANTS quarterback PHIL SIMMS and footballers OTIS
ANDERSON, SEAN LANDETA and GLENN FOLEY. MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY and JAKE
WEBER (JON's co-stars in the movie U-571) also headed to Red Bank for
the big event.

Cocktails and hors d'ouvres were served outside before the guests were
ushered into the tent for the formal dinner. The event has an Asian
theme complete with bright floral arrangements, large red paper lanterns
and cigar girls donning Chinese silk pajamas. LA BAMBA & THE HUBCAPS
(with SHAWN PELTON on drums) performed classic rock 'n' roll tunes and
the guests took the dance floor (including Matthew McConaughey who took
to the dance floor and stole the show.)

After guests dined on a seven course meal, JON approached the
microphone. Thanking everyone for coming, he announced that he was
adding an item to the auction which was not listed in the auction
journals each guest received upon arrival. BON JOVI would come to your
backyard and perform at your party..."start the bidding!" Two guests
went home with a private BON JOVI concert at their homes before the rest
of the auction was underway. Auction items included tickets & backstage
pass packages for Bruce Springsteen, The Backstreet Boys and Ricky
Martin, a romatic getaway trip to France, and 5-Star weekend at NYC's
Plaza Hotel and signed memorabilia (guitars from Billy Joel & Willie
Nelson, as well as signed pix from Madonna, John Travolta and Dean
Martin.) Other big money makers for the charities were the private
skyboxes to watch the NY JETS, the NY GIANTS and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
concerts, a movie screening at Planet Hollywood for 50 guests and 2
tickets to every concert at the! PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey this
summer.

TICO TORRES was commissioned to do an original painting for the cover of
the event's journal. Each journal featured the watercolor painting
entitled "May Light Guide Our Children" (the blue light illuminating
from a candle's wick includes the faint image of a child's face.) The
original canvas of this artwork was among the auction items bringing in
big money for the cause.

In total, THE EVENT & AUCTION RAISED MORE THAN $500,000 FOR THE
CHARITIES.

At the end of the auction, all who bid were thanked, the band took the
stage and the dancing began again in ernest. Even JON & DOROTHEA took to
the dance floor. MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY single-handedly kept the party
going on into the night by pledging $1,000 to the charity for every song
he requested the band play. Eight songs later, the charity was $8,000
richer and Matthew was still dancing.

Each guest took home a "goody bag" of gifts. Versace bags were filled
with Versace cosmetics, men's hair products, Flutie Flakes Chocolate
Bars, french perfume and a copy of BON JOVI's Cross Road CD.

All in all, an amazing evening and a overwhelming success.

Mary Beth

This was another star-studded publicity gala disguised as a 'charity'
function. Jon needs to smacked in mouth & brought down to Earth with
the rest of us. I used to be one of those rare people who respected
Jon Bon Jovi. He seemed to be fairly down to Earth, esp. for a "rock
star". Now the very sight of him turns my stomach. That's one
celebrity I wish would just retire!! At least until he becomes a human
being again.

He *is* down to earth ... I worked for Bon Jovi a couple of times in the
80s, married to HS sweetheart (a miracle in rock), he is nice to everyone,
no prima donna behavior. After years of being rich, living and working in
LA at times, do you expect this guy *not* to have celeb friends? And to use
them for a good cause?

I'm no Bon Jovi groupie but I've met the guy and he is a decent person -- my
younger sister is mentally handicapped and I brought her backstage to watch
soundcheck. She ended up eating dinner w/the band (yeah, instead of eating
at the hotel, they ate backstage w/the crew and staff, very down to earth
considering they were huge in the 80s). The band, especially Tico Torres,
treated my sis like a queen. She was really the center of attention during
the meal and it is something she has never forgotten.

Also, Doug and Laurie Flutie have a similiar middle class background. They
were sweethearts at Natick High (close to where I grew up). Supposedly
Laurie is snooty but Doug is very approachable. Never met either of them
but heard stories at school (I'm the same age as them) since our football
team occasionally played Natick High - about Flutie. He was a great player
in HS so there was gossip and all the girls swooned.

Anyway, I was wondering if Bon Jovi's son is also autistic? Didn't I read
something somewhere about that being the case? Can anyone confirm?

He was down-to-Earth in the 80's & he had celebrity friends then. He
also did alot of true charity work for the Special Olympics & Farm
Aid. But he is not the same person he once was.

I understand that with fame & fortune, people do beome somewhat removed
from the streets. His behavior is beyond that. As far as marrying his
HS seetheart, she threatened to take him to court if he didn't marry
her. He also fools around on her. She'll never leave him 'cuz what
would she do without him?

I know there will be many Bon Jovi fans flaming me & accusing me of
being jealous or a groupie, etc. But I mean every word of what I say &
I know that there are many fans who feel the same. He'd better watch
out or he'll end up retired before his time.

Jon and Dorothea are soulmates -- he didn't have to marry her, he married her
because he *wanted* to marry her.

Jon still does a lot of charity work, including this party, and is still
involved heavily with Special Olympics, as he did the White House Special
Olympics thing in December and will be at opening day tomorrow in North
Carolina.

I don't think the original poster is jealous or a groupie, but I also don't
think she knows Jon very well. She very well may not like what he's doing now
careerwise, or the fact that he's married and has kids, but hey, people live
their lives. You don't like it? Don't listen to it.

And yes, it is possible to love one person and have sex with another.

Mary Beth,

I am not a groupie & I am certainly not jealous of a has-been. As for
knowing Jon very well, I'm sure that you must know him personally huh?
Since you seem to have all of the 'inside info' on him, tell us all
about how he & his wife are soul mates. Haven't you ever heard the
phrase "cheaper to keep her"? Lots of married couples stay together
for financial (as well as other) reasons, not love.

As for the bullshit about being able to love someone but have sex with
another; please get therapy! If you love someone why would you want to
fuck other people? I don't think that you, as well as many other hard-
core BJ fans, can't cope with the fact that your golden-boy isn't so
golden. If he keeps churning out horrendous crap like "Real Life",
he'll see his music career disappear forever. But since he seems to be
much more interested in being an actor/model/celebrity, I doubt he
gives a fuck.

I don't listen to his new shit & I cannot even stand the sight of him
so please spare me your 'advice'! I'm just saying what myself as well
as alot of FORMER BJ fans believe; cut the crap Jon & come back down to
Earth with the rest of us!
