John Singleton's art imitating life?

Director John Singleton's new movie, "Baby Boy," is a coming-of-age story about
a 20-year-old street hustler who has two children by two women and still lives
with his mom.
Singleton, to be sure, has his own crib. But you can't help connecting some
dots between the filmmaker and his character, Jody.
Like the five children he has with four women. How'd that happen?
"When I was in college, I was a bookworm," he tells us. "I would've been happy
dating the fat girl." Then his first feature, "Boyz N the Hood," made him the
first black director (and the youngest of any color) to get an Oscar nod.
Suddenly, he says, "I had different choices of girls. I was happy for the
attention. But I was very much a kid. I really didn't know much about women. As
a man, I'm still learning. I'm basically a target for certain women. ...
"I would date girls and, a few days into the relationship, they'd say, 'Let's
get married.'"
His marriage to actress Akosua Busia lasted six months before they headed to
divorce court — a week after the birth of their daughter, Hadar, now 4. His
relationship with Tosha Lewis, the mother of his 8-year-old daughter, Justice,
was even stormier. Singleton got three years' probation after Lewis accused him
of striking her during an argument over visitation rights.
"I love my babies," he says. "I take care of them. I'm pursuing custody of two
of them."
He reflects, "I've gotten hurt and I've hurt people, because I felt used.
"The only person who truly loved me for me," he says, was supermodel Tyra
Banks. "Because she had a job."
Though Banks has lately been linked with Sacramento Kings forward Chris Webber,
Singleton says, "We're friends. She wants to get married, and I don't want to
get married now. I'm not saying she wants to marry me."
Single-again Singleton says that if he catches a whiff that a woman is out for
the gold, "I run immediately. Boom! I don't even say 'bye."

Yes it is....and because she is *hard* on him , won't let him walk all over
her, because of his $$$ and contacts....she is his target...he thinks if he
throws money at it...she will cave in...she won't!
She will keep the child.

Akosua Busia's reputation is spotless. She's a respected actress,
illustrator and writer. And according to others I know who've worked
with her, her daughter is happy, adjusted to living away from John, and
gets along well with other children and adults.
From reading reports on John's behavior over the years, he comes across
as a cad with unwarranted arrogance.
