Madonna Lends Painting to Museum

LONDON (AP) - Madonna handed over one of her treasured paintings to London's
Tate Modern museum, saying it was ``like letting go of one of my precious
children.''

The 43-year-old pop singer has lent ``Self Portrait With Monkey,'' a painting
by the late Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, for the museum's exhibition
``Surrealism: Desire Unbound.''

Delivery of the painting was held up by the airline delays that followed the
Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the United States.

Darlene Lutz, curator of Madonna's private art collection, finally got to hand
it to the gallery Thursday.

``Loaning my Frida to Tate is like letting go of one of my precious children.
But I know she will be in good hands and the exhibit would not be complete
without her,'' Madonna said in a statement.

The work has rarely been exhibited.

I hate it when people say shit like that. Yeah, oil paint and canvas is
just like a child. WTG, madonna, I'm sure Frida would be proud.

Was it that painting her childhood friend presented to her in the movie Truth
or Dare?? What happend to that painting?
No wait she said she had a hard time loaning out this beloved painting the
painting from her friend was probably donated to Goodwill or something.
