Yesterday, challah-headed casino kingpin Donald Trump told Page Six
he'd never received, much less cashed, a check for $0.13 cents (or any
amount of cents!) sent to him by Spy magazine. More interestingly, he
defied anyone to "try and show it to me." We chuckled, then scanned the
cancelled check as it appeared in the July 1990 issue of the magazine,
and posted it here. Since then, several readers-two, actually-have
asked to see the back of the check for proof he actually cashed it.
(Understandable. We'd trust Donald over Kurt and Graydon any day.)
After the jump, yet another scan from the pages of Spy, proving once
and for all that Donald J. Trump-or his office accountant-is the
kinda guy that would cash a check for $0.13 cents.

Did you guys tae an extra handful of stupid pills, this morning?
Publishing the scan of a check is like wakling around with a sign that
says "Please rob me blind."

Gee. Anybody I give a cheque to could do that, then. Right?
Deborah
That is absolutely true. If you're pretty sure somebody is a hardened
felon, you'll do best to pay them with paypal or a money order. Of
course, even most professional business frauds, like the ones selling
computers on ebay, aren't hardened felons. They have their MO, which
they stick to, and their MO doesn't include check forgery.
It's not only about whether they're criminals, but also about what
system they've invented for stealing from you. Once they've got a
system that works, they typically don't bother trying to invent a second
one.
Most people don't know that it can be done this way, because it hasn't
been widely broadcast by the news. And they're neither inventive nor
terribly computer savvy.
I haven't looked into it, but I suspect that the necessary information
for breaking into the recipient's account is on the back of a check
after it's been cashed. So I guess that if somebody does it to you,
when he cashes the check, he's giving you a weapon to retaliate.
Aren't computers wonderful? :P
The person who processes and deposits his checks wouldn't have noticed if it
was .13 or $1300.00. Stack of checks to deposit? List 'em, add 'em, zip
'em, and take 'em to the bank. Someone doing their job. I hardly believe
Trump makes his own deposits. And this magazine is called "Spy"?
hahahaha!!!!
You "might" ought to look into it then......

So that I can rob Donald Trump?
No, because that information is NOT there!! It is almost laughable that you
think that is the way to hack accounts.
So you rob banks then, I see?
He probably didn't even deposit it. He signed the back of it with a zillion
other checks that his assistant handed him and his assistant deposited it.

He didn't even sign it. Take a look at the pic in the link, it's
rubber stamped with his name, no doubt by the same assistant
who checks his mail and deposits checks for him. Trump probably
never even laid eyes on the $0.13 check.
And to those who say they sign every check - most businesses who get a lot
of checks have either an encoding machine that stamps the back or a rubber
stamp. If you don't do anything, you risk the other bank returning them for
sig - at least the banks around here do that.
I love it when a subcontractor doesn't sign the back and our bank returns
it! They call up yelling and screaming, but it's outside our control - it
is the policy of the bank we deal with.

Let it go, Donny. Let it go.
