Ben Affleck, who plays a successful Hollywood talent agent opposite Rebecca
Romijn in the upcoming movie "Man About Town," has purchased a Brentwood home
for slightly more than $4.6 million.
The country traditional-style home, on an acre of rolling lawns and gardens,
has five bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms in about 4,500 square feet. The gated,
two-story house also has a master-bedroom suite with a spa tub, a steam shower
and marble floors. There is an ocean view from the master quarters.
The home also has a breakfast room, a wood-paneled library and four fireplaces.
The house was built in 1937, but was recently renovated. The garage was turned
into a guest room.
Affleck, 32, costarred last year in "Jersey Girl" and "Surviving Christmas."
"Man About Town" is still in production, with no release date yet. It has been
nearly seven years since Affleck and actor Matt Damon won an Oscar for writing
the screenplay for "Good Will Hunting."

Keyshawn Johnson, Dallas Cowboy receiver, has sold the Beverly Hills-area home
he allowed Esquire magazine to use last fall as its second-annual design house.

acquired by a European buyer.
Architect Richard Landry designed the home, which was completed in September.
It has six bedrooms and nine bathrooms in nearly 12,000 square feet and sits on
about 4 acres in a gated community with canyon and city views.
Johnson, 32, was an All-American at USC before the New York Jets drafted him.
He also played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before signing with the Cowboys.

Shigeki Maruyama, a top golfer from Japan, has purchased a Bel-Air home on 3.2
acres for $7.6 million.
The house, built in 1986, has seven bedrooms and 9 1/2 bathrooms in 10,000-plus
square feet. The modern-style home has views of the Stone Canyon Reservoir, the
Pacific, Catalina, downtown L.A. and the San Fernando Valley.
The grounds include a long, gated driveway as well as a tennis court and a
pool. The home also has a gym, a media room, an office, a sauna and a wine
cellar.
Maruyama, 35, won one tournament each year on the world's pro tour between 2001
and 2003. In October, he made his first appearance in three years on the Japan
GTO circuit in the first round of the Bridgestone Open in his hometown of
Chiba.
Maruyama, known for his sense of humor, has been reported as saying he is
grateful for any crowd support but has one wish: that the crowd learn to
pronounce his name correctly.
"They are saying Mary-Ya-Na, not Maru-Ya-Ma," he said, "and I am thinking, 'Why
are they yelling marijuana at me?' "

An Eagle Rock home built in 1930 for theatrical entrepreneur Alexander Pantages
has been sold for close to $2 million.
Pantages, a Greek immigrant who made a fortune during the early 1900s creating
a vaudeville circuit and commissioning the design and construction of elaborate
theaters in several U.S. cities, hired B. Marcus Priteca, known for his Art
Deco style, to design the six-bedroom, nearly 6,000-square-foot home on almost
an acre.
Hand-painted tiles and handcrafted light fixtures are among the many original
touches remaining in the Spanish-style house, which also has a full-size
basketball court.
The sale was a record high for Eagle Rock. The buyers were the Nalliah Mahendra
Rajah family, owners of Montessori schools and other firms in Eagle Rock,
Hollywood and West Covina.
