VH-1's :Best Week Ever" host Paul Tompkins just
dropped a bomb on Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

Talking about Jessica Simpson's flubbed performance at the
Kennedy Center and how she later recorded a "clean"
version in the studio, Tomkins clearly referred to "the lady
who does her vocals for her".

I think he just answered the Entertainment Lawyer BI.

Countdown will be replayed on MSNBC later tonight;
watch the last ten or so minutes.

I'm no fan of Jessica's but I did watch one episode or Newlyweds (and only
one, thankfully). She sang the US anthem at a football or baseball game and
she does sing well enough. She also has a weird dictation that is very
distinctive, I've only heard her live though, I've never heard a song off of
one of her records.

Also, couldn't BWE be playing on the blind item?

Didn't get to see it or the replay, but I think "vocals" is just
industry speak for "background vocals." On album credits don't they
almost always just call it vocals?

Isn't Paul Tompkins one of those talking-head comedians who shows up on
programs like Best Week Ever and makes smart-ass remarks? How would he
know whether Simpson has someone do her singing for her?

(I'm sure she has a LOT of "help" in the studio, but I'm not convinced it
goes as far as Milli Vanilli-type "help"...)

wasn't Paul Tompkins part of "Mr. Show"? if so, all i have to say is:

Do you know for a fact, that was her singing live? Could that have been lip
synced as well, like they do at the Super Bowl?

it would not surprise me one bit to learn that she was faked in many ways
