Wie Misses another Cut as Father Caddies for Her

Michelle Wie followed up her opening 75 with a 74 in the Canadian
Women's Open. The 17-year-old had a 7-over 149 total at Royal Mayfair
Golf Club in Edmonton, Alberta, and missed the 36-hole cut.

She was 15 strokes behind the leaders with about a quarter of the
field still playing. "I missed a couple of crucial putts here and
there and a couple of shots didn't go the way I wanted to," said Wie,
who had five bogeys and two birdies Friday. "It's frustrating to see
my score was high when I don't feel I played that bad."

Wie, who suffered a wrist injury earlier this year, also missed the
cut two weeks ago in the Women's British Open at St. Andrews, shooting
73-80. The week before the Women's British Open, she tied for 69th in
France at the Evian Masters, shooting 73-71-84-76 in her first start
since withdrawing from the U.S. Women's Open in June because of a sore
left wrist.

Wie's caddie, David Clark, who'd worked with the Hawaiian teen all
year, quit just before the tournament in Canada to go to work for PGA
Tour golfer Greg Owen. Last year Wie's camp fired previous caddie,
Greg Johnson, who now loops for Brittany Lincicome.

Wie's father, B.J., caddied for his daughter during the Canadian
Women's Open. Approached yesterday, B.J. Wie declined comment about
the situation. "I'll be quiet," he said. "I'd better not talk, as her
caddie."

Juli Inkster (66) and Shi Hyun Ahn (67) had the clubhouse lead in the
Canadian Women's Open at 8-under 134. The top-ranked female player in
the world, Lorena Ochoa (65), along with Kimberly Hall (67) and Laura
Diaz (70), were a shot back at 7 under.
