This one is the 100 Greatest Videos Of All Time. In at number one is a
no-brainer. Michael Jackson's "Thriller" continues to be considered
the greatest video ever by just about everyone, however, you gotta
wonder if it even belongs on a list of videos. After all, Thriller is
a short-film, twenty minutes long.
The rest of the items on the list are traditional 4- or 5-minute
videos.

The Rest of the Best

Madonna's "Like A Prayer" is in at number two. It was considered
controversial and blasphemous back in 1989. Now, it's a mere
curiosity.

Peter Gabriel's truly innovative "Sledgehammer" combined computer and
traditional animation. It's number three on the list.

In anyone's book, Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" deserves praise
just for being released. 'Nuff said. It's number four.

Rounding out the top five is the bombastic "November Rain" by Guns n'
Roses.

It's actually a relatively varied list with songs from all over the
musical map. Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" is right up there with
Metallica's "Enter Sandman" and "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The
Buggles.

VH1 will roll out the 100 videos over five consecutive nights,
beginning on May 7th.

> 7. Madonna, "Justify My Love"

A video so great they've never showed it on MTV or VH1. Still haven't,
except in various small clips during specialty programming such as this. The
only time it's been seen in its entirety was on ABC's Nightline.

> 9. Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, "Scream"

Ummm, no.

> 18. Alanis Morissette, "Ironic"

Ummm, no.

> 24. Van Halen, "Jump"

Ummm, no.

> 38. Michael Jackson, "Black or White"

Only if they show the unedited version where he goes nuts and smashes the
car, etc.

> 41. David Lee Roth, "California Girls"

Ummm, no. "Just A Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody" was better.

> 75. Bruce Springsteen, "Dancing in the Dark"

Ummm, no.

> 79. The Buggles, "Video Killed the Radio Star"

Ummm, no. Being the first (first aired on MTV) doesn't make it the best.

> 81. Prince, "1999"

Ummm, no.

> 89. Paula Abdul, "Opposites Attract"
> 90. Britney Spears, "... Baby One More Time"

Ummm, no.

> 92. Creed, "With Arms Wide Open"

Ummm, no.

"And we were just talking and all of a sudden he's like, 'I'm gay.' And I
looked at him and for a split second-that one second where someone doesn't
respond-his eyes were absolutely, totally lost. He didn't know if I'd say,
'You're a...fag, get out of here...I can't believe you, we're not
friends...' Who knows what I could say, and he was like so scared. And I'm
like, 'You know what Brad, that's cool, I still love you, it's all good." -
Robby on "American High"
