Will Tyra be the next celeb to adopt a child?American supermodel Tyra
Banks says she wants to adopt a child - but swears she is not following
the latest celebrity trend.
The 33-year-old host of America's Next Top Model insisted that she was
not just jumping on the bandwagon of stars adopting, including Madonna
and Angelina Jolie, saying she has wanted to adopt since she was a
young girl.
"I've wanted to adopt since I was eight, nine years old, before it was
hip," Tyra is quoted by WENN as saying.
"I really do think I will. I don't have to have a child come from my
womb to have a connection.
"Children that are already born are beautiful to me. I can definitely
be a mother to them," she said.
In May this year Tyra, who has her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show,
was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME
magazine.

As opposed to ugly children who are not born yet?
Oy. She's going to leave that baby on the top of her car.

That is total bullshit. No 8 year old child dreams of adopting a baby.
Having a baby, yes. Adopting one?
An idiotic story to make sure no one thinks she's just copying all the
other celebrity child-buyers.

> Having a baby, yes. Adopting one?
When I was pretty young and everyone around me insisted that I'd have my
own kids someday no matter what I said in the present, I remember
thinking that I could adopt starving kids from other countries, and
besides it being good for the environment, I could skip the whole baby
thing. At that age, I didn't have a vocabulary or concept that one could
simply not become a parent. But I had a deep dislike of babies and
toddlers that goes way back.
There were several kids in the neighborhood who were adopted- from
German girls with soldiers (mixed race, or suspected so) and the
whispers about illegitimate kids. So I knew that adoption was one way
that kids came into families.
I got a little older and realized that parenthood by any means is a pure
choice, and I opted out as soon as I knew that.
But yes, I think a child could understand adoption. And if you ever saw
my aunt's nursing school textbooks of birth, you sure might try to think
of way around it.
