AGC Queen
Pierce Brosnan, whose new James Bond movie, "The World Is Not Enough,"
opened this weekend, has sold his six-acre ocean-view site in Malibu for $1
million.
Brosnan stars as Agent 007 in the 19th Bond movie. It is Brosnan's third
film as Bond. He also starred in and produced "The Thomas Crown Affair,"
released in August.
The land, which Brosnan had owned for several years, was sold to a Malibu
builder and his partners for development.
The actor, 47, has lived in Malibu for about 15 years. He and
environmental journalist-TV news correspondent Keely Shaye-Smith were recently
engaged. They plan to marry in the spring.
Bob Rubenstein of Coldwell Banker's Malibu West office represented the
buyers; Rubenstein and Manny Flekman & Co., Brosnan's business managers,
represented the actor in the land sale.

UCLA basketball coach Steve Lavin has purchased a newly built custom home
in Marina del Rey for close to its $1.5-million asking price.
Lavin, 35, became the UCLA team's head coach in February 1997. He joined
the Bruin staff before the start of the '91-92 season. He is the first UCLA
head coach since John Wooden in '74 and '75 to win multiple tournament games in
back-to-back seasons.
He bought a four-bedroom 5,000-square-foot house with a family or game
room, green marble master bath, circular staircase, roof deck, limestone entry
and elevator.
The four-level house was built by Daniel Ganezer. Lavin plans to put in a
pool.
Valerie Fitzgerald of Coldwell Banker Previews, Beverly Hills, and
Westside attorney Gary B. Torpy had the listing. Fitzgerald also represented
Lavin.

Brian Murphy, one of the top concert promoters in the Los Angeles area,
has purchased a Studio City house for about its $595,000 asking price, and he
has put his Sherman Oaks home on the market at $940,000. He wanted more of a
bachelor pad.
Murphy, about 50, is head of Avalon Attractions. When New York-based SFX
Entertainment recently acquired Avalon, Murphy was retained as president.
Avalon is exclusive operator of such places as the Wiltern Theatre and Irvine
Meadows Amphitheatre.
Murphy bought a 2,300-square-foot contemporary in the hills with canyon
views. He is selling a 4,000-square-foot contemporary in the hills with canyon
views and a pool.
Deborah Moore of Coldwell Banker Previews, Beverly Hills south, has the
listing and represented Murphy in buying.

Oscar-winning production designer Eugenio Zanetti has listed his
four-bedroom Los Feliz home at $929,000. He is building a country home near
Montecito.
Zanetti, 52, was production designer for such movies as "The Haunting"
(1999), "What Dreams May Come" (1998) and "Restoration" (1995), for which he
won an Oscar for best art direction.
Built in 1927, the 3,900-square-foot home is Moorish in style with walled
courtyards, fountains, a two-story foyer with an atrium, an artist's studio, a
meditation room, a dining room with a mural, a library, indoor and outdoor
fireplaces and a balcony.
The dining room has wallpaper with fragments of murals Zanetti designed
for "Restoration." The sunken living room has a red-tile floor.
Furnishings, designed for films and the house, may be offered separately.

Movie producer George Furla of Emmett/Furla Films has purchased about an
acre in the Hollywood Hills, where he plans to start building an
8,100-square-foot house in the spring.
Emmett/Furla is in production on the teen thriller "Held for Ransom,"
starring Dennis Hopper. The company produced "Speedway Junky," starring
Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and the upcoming "After Sex," starring Brooke Shields.
Furla paid $600,000 for the land. He plans to build a French
Mediterranean-style home with a screening room, tennis court and guest house.
Rhoberta Kerr of Coldwell Banker, Studio City, represented both parties in
the land sale.
Gus Duffy, whose clients have included such celebrities as Kareem
Abdul-Jabbar and Jane Seymour, recently celebrated his 25th anniversary as an
architect by holding a party for 200 at a Colonial-style house he redesigned in
Beverly Hills.
The five-bedroom 5,800-square-foot house, on a knoll overlooking Los
Angeles from downtown to the ocean, is listed at just under $3.6 million with
Duffy's wife, Jana Jones-Duffy, at Coldwell Banker Previews, Beverly Hills.
