Tori's rummage sale brings media frenzy
By Stone Martindale Dec 10, 2006, 4:02 GMT

Tori Spelling has tapped in to her inner Buddhist, and relieved herself
of some earthly material goods. And the goods were got by cash, check
and credit card proffered by lucky rummagers in Beverly Hills adjacent
Laurel Canyon this past weekend.

Allegedly, due to the unfortunate fact that Poppa Aaron left his little
princess ''less than $1 million'' of his $300 million estate, which her
estranged mother controls, well, time for a chotchtkes fire sale.

The Los Angeles Times reported that after dawn Friday, off Laurel
Canyon Boulevard, in the know bargain hunters began lining up for the
rummage sale of the year.

Local news helicopters hovered above and the turnout of TV cameras and
paparazzi swamped the surrouning areas around la casa de Tori Spelling,
currently six months pregnant with her first child.

Spelling opened her doors to her rental house to anyone who surrendered
their cell phone and gadgets at the door for a chance to buy anything
from used Sephora lip gloss (eww) and nail polish to collectible
vintage Louis Vuitton luggage.

The Monterey Herald reported that "even next-door-neighbor Sharon Lupus
-- wife of TV's ''Mission: Impossible'' strongman Peter Lupus -- lined
up and took a number for the chance to glimpse what was inside the home
Spelling has shared with Canadian actor Dean McDermott, whom she
married in May, about a month before the death of her TV mogul father
Aaron Spelling."

''I've never met her,'' said Sharon Lupus, who was No. 71 in line.
''We've kind of waved to one another from a distance.''

Steven ''Cojo'' Cojocaru turned on his charm for the cameras giving
play by plays on the shopping fray. ''Attention, Kmart shoppers!''
Cojocaru announced for ''Entertainment Tonight''

Speculation abounds for insiders who are followng the Spelling feud
closely. Candy Spelling's daughter's garage sale is also something Tori
is mining for reality television. It's an upcoming episode on Tori's
VH1 ''So NoTORIous'' reality television series, which allegedly has
angered Candy over her depiction in the show.

''I had to break away from the past and be ready to start anew,''
Spelling told People magazine this week about her yard sale. ''It's out
with the old, in with the new.

''I'm having the sale because we're moving and my taste has changed.
Plus I'm a notorious pack rat. I keep everything.''

Spelling enlisted the help of a professional estate organiser, and said
her belongings 'represented 15 years of collecting, buying and
designing.

''When's the last time you were at a garage sale where you could pay
using your Visa?'' asked Mathew Wallace of Palmdale, who bought Tori's
custom-made roller skates for $25, a rubber duck for $5 and a Furby toy
for $25. Reported the Los Angeles Daily News.

The new season of ''So NoTORIous'' has Spelling and McDermott leaving
Los Angeles to open a bed-and-breakfast.

I'm convinced that part of her motivation was to embarrass her mother.
"See what she drove me to because she won't give me my money?"

Now, if she were to donate the proceeds to charity, it would make her
tag sale much classier, and much less irritating to Candy.
