Salma Hayek: Engaged and Pregnant!
FRIDAY MARCH 09, 2007 09:40 AM EST
By Pete Norman

Double the good news for Salma Hayek: The actress is engaged to businessman
boyfriend François-Henri Pinault - and she's pregnant.

"Businessman, François-Henri Pinault, and his fiancée, Salma Hayek, are
happy to announce they are expecting the arrival of their first child,"
Hayek's rep confirmed in a statement Friday.

The news, first reported by New York Daily News columnist Ben Widdicombe
(via gossip site Perez Hilton), comes just days after a photo of Hayek made
the Web rounds prompting speculation that she was expecting.

The pair have kept a relatively low profile since their relationship began -
though Hayek, 40, has joined Pinault for occasional public events, including
one in October at the festivities surrounding the inauguration of the
Pinault Foundation's Modern Art collection in Venice's Gritti Palace.

Pinault is the CEO of luxury goods firm PPR, which owns Gucci and Yves Saint
Laurent, as well as a French department store and national music chain. His
father, François, is an avid art collector owning more than 2,500 valuable
pieces, including Picassos, Miros and work by contemporary artistst
including Damien Hirst.

Hayek has most recently had her hands full on Ugly Betty, both as a guest
star and as the executive producer of hit ABC show. Hayek previously dated
actor Edward Norton for four years until 2003, before linking up with Josh
Lucas, with whom she split in 2004.

I had no idea she even had a boyfriend. He looks like he's in his 60s
but I guess she can ignore that because he's so loaded!

He doesn't look in his 60s to me. He just looks normal 50s rather than all
showbizzy imho.

It doesn't sound like they knew each other very long. Maybe they had
to get married.

HAD to get married?? They are not teenagers living in the 1950s. They
are 40 and 43 years of age--I doubt at this age they are concerning
themselves with what anyone else thinks. And anyway, I'm shocked that
anyone gives a shit what Salma Hayek does. She's one of the most
boring celebrities alive and hasn't made a hit movie in ages.

It's not even a case of making a hit movie because she never has, it's
that she hasn't made anything worth seeing since Frida. And I still
don't get the fuss about Ugly Betty, saw the first 2 episodes and they
were the same storylines more or less. For all her self-hype about
being a writer perhaps she should write something worth seeing.

That's what I find so boring about her: she blathers on and on, every
chance she gets, about how she is SO ABOVE being just a hot body, more
than just being a celeb, more than a set of boobs, and harps about how
she wants to write/direct/produce and how she doesn't get props for
being intelligent--but everything she tries to do is shit. Then when
all her high-brow efforts fail she falls back on showing her ass and
breasts to catch attention, which she claims is not what she's about.
I think she's just a spoiled brat who expects everything she does to
shine like gold. She's boring, and when people don't respond to her
she kicks a fit about how people are only interested in her body. But
that's not true--people would be interested in her mind if she
actually had anything to offer.

I guess it is just not my thing. There is only so much "funny Betty
moments" I can take. I didn't find it funny in anyway. It certainly
isn't original. I like to watch something that I don't see its point
coming from a mile of.
