I recently compiled a Gopher+ client under SunOs, and it seems to work perfectly fine save the fact that occasionally not all of the bookmarks in my .gopherrc show up when i 'v'iew them or start up with -b in the bookmarks page. I have not altered anything out of the normal format in my .gopherrc....The problem seems most visible in any bookmark that is not ID 1 (like ID 8, a telnet, for example), and links to submenus within a given host (ie: Path=1/Big Menu/Smaller Menu).
I'm new to the world of gopher, I think it's an unbelievely great resource, especially the bookmark ideas (which I think need to be expanded in future additions of the client/server packages to accomodate menu structures, maybe even Unix shell commands so people could reach 'elm' or 'nn', for example, from within gopher...maybe even a sort of multitasking setup similar to the popular 'screen' program to allow multiple gopher activities at once). Yet this problem I'm having with mysteriously missing bookmarks really bothers me. I have been unable to find any documentation on this via ftp...

There will be work by a group centered around the National Capital Freenet here in Ottawa that will be attempting to do things like this. Some sort of method of saying 'The user wants to go into mail now', and 'pop up the news client in the newsgroup blah.blah.blah'.
There is also other client utilities such as a file directory manipulator, online chat (IRC style?) and other such stuff that we'll want to have an easy way to make 'seem' integrated into the menu structure (That will be ran through Gopher).
If anyone has some suggestions, or is willing to listen to ideas as we discuss them, please let me know.
