EU to dial back measures against global warming

"The European Union, which has spearheaded efforts to curb global
warming, is set to adopt a change of focus in response to concerns over
costs and the impact on companies in economically depressed Europe.

Under the change, the European Union will prioritize the supply of
energy at affordable prices over cutting greenhouse gas emissions which
impose burdens on industries, in a turnaround of the region's energy
policy, an EU official said Saturday.

EU leaders will decide on the shift in energy policy at a meeting
Wednesday. The change reflects requests from businesses in the 27-member
zone amid the prolonged economic slump triggered by the eurozone

Whether it will be enough to stave off the forced retirement of perfectly
serviceable large combustion plants by 2015 remains to be seen. I somehow
doubt it. I don't know about you, but I have a little mental list of people
I'd like to visit during the increasingly inevitable environmentally-
induced winter power blackouts in order to have a quiet chat about green
energy policies and freezing pensioners. I wonder if anyone else has one?

Yes !!

I live in the USA, I do already do look in on some pensioners and
elderly family all the time. It's called taking of our own.

I don't need a special occasion to look in on them !

To those I don't know (Like OK) I donate at my church. I know at LEAST
93 cents to a full $1.00 I give goes to help people !

Found out when I give to govt entitles it's around a little under 20
cents to a max of 30 cents of every $1.00 (and I'm being generous here
too !) But then every little bit helps.

I always give to the Salvation Army before the Red Cross also.

Yes. One has to wonder how much trepidation less well-off people will
experience reading the pronouncements in their local paper from those
who know such things as to how they "could" be more likely to die due to
extreme heat sometime in the future when they can no longer afford to
heat their homes in winter.

Cold has always killed more people that heat, always.

My kid went through Iraq carrying 85lb of gear and a 20lb pound weapon
in 122F heat. The Iraqis have lived in it for many centuries.

The POSSIBILITY (!) of 1 or 2 degrees of heat is not our problem. It's
the people who want to see different form of government based on pseudo
science that is the problem. (explain the over 15 years of now warming
for starters)

Same old game, different symbology........
