In case anyone thinks I never go to Spain, I've been

The ESG the FoE and individuals from Gibraltar joined a number of
Spanish Environmental groups in a protest about plans to destroy the
woodlands park by running a new road through it.

The planned highway seeks to run through El Pinar del Rey and across
a river called El Arroyo de la Alhaja. This project has been
described as having “social interest” by the Ministry of Public
Works as the aim of the road will be to facilitate transport of
goods from the massive container port in Algeciras to Malaga.

Pinar del Rey is rich in biodiversity and an important green lung in
an otherwise heavily polluted region. This road project will further
undermine the natural environment in an area already hijacked by
heavy industry.
