You know, Mr. Kagalenko, your crude response here offers
a very good illustration of why so few people, outside a
few stone-age types such as yourself, like you.
Now, from what I gather, Professor Chudov is someone
of Russian origins who currently lives in the United
States. If that is the case, what on earth is wrong
about his wishing to lose his foreign accent? Now
certainly, Mr. Kagalenko, that is a normal human wish,
and no reflection on anyone's country of origin.
After all, if I were to reside in Russia, I would no
doubt want to lose my English accent when I spoke
Russian. Intelligent minds have a desire to excel
as much as possible, after all, Mr. Kagalenko. And
what does "losing one's accent" REALLY mean, except
that the speaker has developed a greater mastery of
the second language?
There is nothing wrong with having an accent, as
long as a speaker can communicate effectively, my
poor deluded Kagalenko-creature, but why must there
be something harmful about LOSING that same accent,
if the speaker chooses to invest the time and effort
required in so doing?
I wish you would explain your churlish reaction
to Mr. Chudov's reasonable query, Mr. Kagalenko,
because if you don't, I shall be forced to conclude
(once again) that you are naught but a dimwitted bigot
residing in a mental Gulag of your own creation, who
is so stupid as to think that retaining one's accent
in one's adopted culture somehow denotes lack of
respect for one's culture of origin.

He is exactly the sort of CIA-Yeltsin stooge that supported the
Chechnya invasion. Bill Palmer was right to flame him the first time,
and is right to flame him again.

Nope, it's you are exactly the sort of clueless moron, who started to flame
somebody not even understand what was the tread about. Relax boy! Bill made
a mistake, 'cause Russian is not native language for him, and for western
born people it's almost impassible to understand Russia humor.

Yes, Alexie Iatskovski, billshit bill palmer made a mistake, but his
mistake had little to do with the subtleties of Russian humor. The whole
concept of "humor"--Russian or otherwise--completely escapes the jiggly
little anonymous nobody we refer to as billshit bill palmer, writer
manque, depends undergarment wearing rube, foul abuser of the English
language, un-toilet trained soiler of legitimate newsgroups. So, no.
Billshit bill palmer's "mistake" lies elsewhere: it lies in his
attempting--yet again--to troll in the Russian newsgroups. Do NOT take
the little boy's bait. Flame and abuse him if you must. In fact, please,
flame him. We all do. And we all greatly enjoy it. But do NOT take
anything that he "writes" seriously. He's only a troll.

What would the flame world come to, if every flamer had to know what
he is talking about? Bezklyuchnye vsex stran, soedinyajtes'!

But it is *you* who does not understand that distinctive Usenet
phenomenon associated with E-mail address wil...@ix.netcom.com!
I'm sorry gentlemen, is it a kind of Bermuda Triangle syndrom?
Old messages keep coming out of nothing again and again, while Newsgrps
fallouts keep growing ... Anyway, Mr. Kagalenko's response is perfectly
logical, so what's the point?

Why so many conclusions from one single sentence "Shoot yourself"?
Surely, shooting himself is the end solution. As any strong medicine, it
has negative side effects - but it certainly helps to get rid of one's
accent. A priori it has nothing to do with disrespect for one's "culture of
origin" - after all, there are suicidal cultures too.
